I’d play it. I’ve wanted a bard in the game since MoP pretty much. LOTRO has a minstrel, and it’s more of a healer there but I’d love it as a support class. I always felt Lorewalkers would have been a natural segue to bards. Basically, there’s windows there for existing classes to be supports, and bard would be great, if we adopt the d&d bard idea.
I’d rather see some kind of pistol wielding Gunslinger that rolls around and dives for cover, as a Rogue 4th spec. I’m not really against the idea but I see Bard as a Secondary Profession.
Oh man, now I really want to play a Gnome Gunslinger…
That is exactly what MM is capable of.
Instead of from the shadows its from across the map / from the bushes.
absolutely not. bards are only a slightly better idea than tinkers. neither should be a class or spec in the game.
All ff14 dungeons are the same cept the bosses rofl
That is not their fantasy though…
Do they have similarities, yeah sure obviously.
But an MM is not the same archetype as a ranged assassin.
Same way warlocks arent mages and uphold more of the dark wizard archetype, even though having some similarities with fire magic.
An MM is a typical fantasy archer with the added warcraft flare of being survivalists and beast tamers.
A ranged rogue would be a sinister skulker that lurkes in the shadows to execute their target without a trace.
Again think of Green arrow compared to Deadshot.
I would not support, not because I hate bards or any of the like but for the simple reason of this:
Going from the RTS to WOW in 2004 and forwards, where in all of Azeroth’s history has their even been a bardic tradition? The history of Azeroth is recorded in writing, not songs. The dwarves and pandas were the closest we have to the recorders of history and none of them use song for it they use writing.
I would support a rogue subclass of “archivist” where you compose long winded expositions (and have to post them in group or raid) and a well written one buffs the party or raid and a really well written one does X damage to the boss. Only this sort of “class” would have any lore basis.
Well, unless another set of aliens comes crashing to Azeroth. Let’s say a lost group of late 19th Century Welsh Nationalists who make such a stink and bruhaha on Azeroth until the Horde AND Alliance agree to allow them to hold an annual Eisteddfod.
Where were evokers?
Bard/support really clashes with the core thematic rogue has going for it currently.
Music magic?
There was a Necrolord NPC who fought with music. So there is precedent.
Im not familiar
He attacks? Name? I wanna rabbit hole
Yep, he’s one of the little walkalong companions you can pick during their Maw Assault.
Counter argument, have it as a class and not a spec:
DPS - Support: Lute/guitar, buffer (like aug) class that can turn guitar into a mallet if need be
Tank: uses percussion instruments, uses drums to taunt and keep threat with sick beats.
Healer: Harp/flute, play gentle songs to soothe and heal allies
One day… one day…
I detest bards and will forever seeth and exclude them from content. A professional liar does not sit right with me and I will not be supporting their spoony antics
No because I want bards to be their own class. Having multiple specs with different aesthetics could be awesome. Like a dps build being rock/metal themed, support being more classical bard stuff, ect.
rather bards either be its own class or one not associated with rogues.
