Its is a strange question, I know. But I have some mental problems like social anxiety, adhd and maybe ocd. I paid the 2 months but this game looks too immersive and I am afraid to become a problem for me.
Playing wow is arguably a mental disorder anyways, so yeah
Cant comment on ocd or adhd
But in regards to social anxiety, just dont play with people.
You can easily run around doing your own thing in the world.
If you can post on the forums, you’ll be just fine in the game.
But know the game is very immersive, it’ll become addictive, just a heads up.
You say maybe ocd like you’re picking and choosing from a bag. Well, it is 2022. Have at it.
Anxiety it is helpful, ADHD… can be problematic.
I still play though, I just set timers to remember to do other things.
Arguably, a mental disorder is required to spend so much time in a make believe world. I have eleven years in so far.
Don’t worry you’ll figure it out. Just like we did.
Rate my help to you 1 out of 10, because you’ll hear it a lot.
It depends on what your goals are. If you just want to do your own thing at your own pace experiencing the story and unlocking things then it’s fine.
If you feel compelled to follow the ‘normal’ end game path of M+, PVP, or Raiding, then no.
Honestly, WoW does not support players like you and nor does the community. They argue that you will be fine to me when this thread shows you are not.
I am sorry and can only say go at your own pace.
I’d disagree. These things helped me immensely with my GAD. That’s not to say that it would for anyone else, just saying they should probably try on their own to see if it helps or hinders.
definitely not. Not with this community. No.
Actually, I’d say that if you have social anxiety, the advice would be the opposite. Try and do activities with other people. It’s easier behind a computer and you can develop confidence.
Good for distractions
Bad for addiction
Now, regardless of what disorder you have, avoid the GD forum’s toxicity.
If your goal is overcoming it sure
But if you just want to play the game and not worry about that, then you can easily do play without talking to other people.
I myself get anxious when expectations are placed on me in group content. So i dont do it.
Ive been playing the game that way for years and havent really had any issues.
Now this i fully agree with.
Honestly,play at your own pace.
If you don’t feel comfortable with some content it’s alright not to do that content.
There’s alot in game each player can find that the like to do and stick with that.
Coming from a AGAD, MD,ect I stick with playing content I know won’t be as triggering for it with me. Need less to say I don’t do mythics, raids or dungeons. I did expansion after expasion whe around and SL was the last nail for those for me outside of older content.
I finally also found other players I can be comfortable with in my guild who understand.
The problem with avoiding is that it reinforces the avoiding behaviour, which might worsen the problem. I’d always advise in favor of things that help people.
Now, of course WoW isn’t therapy and will never be, so that’s only an optional advice.
i recommend wow for everyone.
I have a touch of all those things you mentioned and I get along fine in the game. I suppose it would depend on the severity of your disorders. All I can say is try it, if it doesn’t work out no harm in walking away.
