Narrowed down my main to lock or priest. Really enjoy both for various reasons.
Would you locks out there recommend yourselves as a long term main?
I should note I mainly pug m+ and want to get into some pvp…

M+ and pvp id take the lock over priest easily. Current state for dps, lock is looking really strong, destro not so much for m+ but it’s workable. Idk much about priest, just what I’ve read and many are saying shadow sucks.
Me personally, I chose lock as main. I was torn between them and mage. Ultimately for pvp the lock edged them out in my decision.
Throw them both into a spinner wheel picker and let it rip.
The complaints are about the clunky playstyle, and a bit of number tuning.
No.
Destro needs buffs to abilities like Dimensional Rift for raiding. Additionally, the chaotic energies capstone also needs another tuning pass.
It’s telling when half of our capstones are irrelevant in PvE (PvP doesn’t count - it’s a mini game).
I swapped to the Lock as main in Sanctum of Domination and it has kept me interested. I pretty much play demo 90% of the time with Affliction being the other in pvp. Destruction doesn’t really interest me.
I am looking forward to Demo in DF since it plays very similar to Shadowlands, but I am not stoked about Nether Portal. Hopefully they look at its implementation in the next patch, but they seem to be content with its functionality. I will play the bolt build over nether portal in single target, if it is competitive. M+ zoo build will be basically the same as current demo, which is a great playstyle.
Tough to say how Spriest will fare in pug M+, historically, it hasn’t been the choice over pretty much anything else. Doesn’t mean they are trash, they just didn’t bring a lot to groups as Shadow will always self Pi. Now it seems they can do others as well as themselves.
Lock is the best class for my playstyle, I don’t like anything else, if there were no Warlock, I wouldn’t even be playing the game. I pug, solo open world stuff like ZM, Lock has really good survivability and pets also help with that. You have a lot of utility for pugs, (ports/gates/cookies/BR). Your demonic circle can help when needing to move, can be placed away from big scary things and teleport back to safety when in danger.
You have two defensives, a pet kick, aoe stun, mortal coil is a great heal in a pinch.
It’s all personal preference, if you like Spriest playstyle, go with that, if you enjoy more having three seperate dps specs vs one, go Warlock.
Priest is my least favorite class. I wish warlocks had more mobility, but they at least feel fun. I especially enjoy demonology.
Burning rush would like a word with you.
With the ability to use Burning Rush almost constantly in group pve content, plus demonic gateway and circle, Warlocks have good mobility tools. Destruction is a turret, especially in single target rotation, but Demo and Affliction are very mobile in rotation for casters (outside of demo’s tyrant ramp)
We do pvp things.
Ide learn all 3 specs tho… we never know what one is gonna be top dog.
I’d totally recommend lock, though it depends on the style you’re lookin to play with.
I can’t speak from the PvP side but for m+ Demonology is looking real good in that regard… lagging just abit behind that is destro…
but i have bad news if you enjoy affliction, the specs AOEs just fine, but it can’t single target to save it’s life… so unless some changes come for it in the later patches of DF, and you like demo/destro… definitely warlock
short answer, no.
There is still time until raid launch. Nothing is guaranteed to happen, but dooming currently is pointless. There can be tuning at any point as you know, I’m holding out hope that some aura buffs at least come through, I don’t mind Demo, but I’d rather stay Aff.
I prefer Affl too though new demo is fun. I mostly m+ and pvp. I’d like some buffs to affl pve. Overall it’s not terrible but it lags behind demo
Yes, I’d recommend lock. Fair warning though, prolonged exposure to playing warlock usually requires therapy and possibly SSRIs.
It’s mostly the same, a few different abilities to hit, but the core is roughly the same.
Mine came with an Ativan prescription. Also some manic depressive epiodes.
Shouldn’t you be an elf?
Azeroth has progressed beyond the need for elves.
