i really like mages but im getting super burnt out playing one especially since im forced into the same 2 specs fire and frost. i was wondering if a lock would be an interesting/good recommendation for me?
i dont mind pet classes. will be totally new to locks but in the end i don’t mind their play styles in general hardest spec for me would probably be new demo but i haven’t really played a lock until end game before i just dabble in them here and there on a boosted one that i just use for farming mounts once in a great while.
i don’t mind playing 1 spec problem is i been maining this mage since WoD and only this mage so yea it gotten extremely boring especially since not much has really changed
I think you sound like it would fit your needs nicely. Still a caster so no crazy adjustments there. Destro, imo, feels very mage-like if you want something that plays similarly but is different enough. Both aff and demo have very unique feels to them and both are super fun in different ways. Demo feels smooth and complete and is very synergistic with its abilities but it’s damage profile can be limiting. Aff is extremely versatile as your ability to aoe depends on your ability to play the multidot whack a mole game while your single target can get pretty beefy by taking a couple more talented dots.
Numbers aside as they change constantly, i think warlock offers 3 very different and unique playstyles to keep you entertained.

Completely agree… though that can be a good or a bad thing. I too went through a similar phase and tried a mage to replace my lock… but after a bit, it felt like why put in all the effort again into a toon which plays so similarly when I already have a lock ready to go.
I would, yes! I leveled this character up because a Warlock was one of the two classes I had never played. I’m now considering bringing it into SL as my main character. Now if I could decide between Affliction and Destruction…
Absolutely!!! There is a friendly rivalry between the two, but they are both casters end of day. Destro will be the most familiar, but with the interesting bonuses, and limitations. Affy is a micromanagement fest, but with a very well rounded damage profile. Demo is…well I don’t play demo, but judging by what I see going into slands, it will be okish, numbers tuning is the key.
Why choose? Gear and play both. I think I’m going to put the most time and effort into aff but I plan to play destro also and I will even play demo if only in Torghast. I think lock specs are unique enough in their playstyles that it can feel like 3 characters in 1

Affliction. DoT’s with a Tank, no drama with unexpected guests while out and about.
I would… They are good enough for me to main hunter and keep two other chars geared instead of one that I normally do.
Hunter>Paladin>Warlock
Warlocks – at some point through any expansion – will outperform many other classes in PvP and PvE. Their kit is strong enough to be able to continue performing well during lulls in performance if you can play the class well. Playing the class well is also interesting with warlocks since the rotations can be tricky during bossfights, and we will always bring high utility to PvP with our CC.
Longstoryshort we’ll always be viable even at low points.
