Would you prefer WoW 2 or a WoW reboot?

Personally, imo, neither would be good for the game or address the challenges that the devs are currently faced with. Anything that would shut off the original servers seems like a big risk that when you turned something back on for people to play. Blizzard would be taking a huge chance that they would get all of those people from the game back. Also look how hard it is for an mmo to launch in this day and age and have everyone think it was great. Most seem to leave after a few months. The other thing I think Blizzard would have going against it is that there are many here with 5, 10 or 15 years of accomplishments under their belts. I am not sure they would all be thrilled with the idea of losing everything and starting over.

How about a reboot, but not starting at the end of WC3?

Do a complete reboot and start at the opening of the dark portal. Orcs vs Humans.

My first instinct is option two with a full reboot. However that runs the risk of having terrible story writing from the beginning.

With option 1 there’d at least still be some lore from the earlier expacs that would good and awesome.

In the end i dont think either would help and what really needs a clean slate is the team writing the stories

i doubt this world will ever get another massive western MMORPG. Game services conquered industry, they cheaper, easier and bring more cash.

We’d be lucky if wow will still make expansions at all.

It could very easily kill the game series deleting years of work like that but between that and option 2 I’d take option 1 in a heart beat.

That being said I don’t particularly think theres anything wrong with the current engine and should just continue to update it. It doesn’t need a massive revamp to something it never was or never will be it needs some work done to it but wow isn’t in a unfixable state atm.

Maybe they could do what Mortal Kombat did with MK9. Maybe its a WoW Reboot but a select few Major Lore Character’s have visions of their futures and actively try to change things

Truth be told, if they did a WoW2 I would only want them to do it because they need a full new engine because the old game engine can’t do what Blizzard wants it to do anymore.

A sequel to WoW set 250 years into the future from this trainwreck

Boringgggggg

I firmly believe a WoW 2 wouldn’t solve anything. Anything you could possibly desire from a “WoW 2” could likely be achieved with current WoW.

However, it’s clear BFA needs to be purged. Kill it with fire.

I’d prefer if blizz just separated from activision and fired Ion, then hired back all the people they fired… especially the old guard who left because they were disgusted with the direction their game has been driven down in the name of bleeding the company dry for stock holders.

Something similar to what Guild Wars 2 did would be interesting: A hundred+ year gap between the original game and the sequel, with elements of the original game being mere relics, stories, or even just plain archaeological digs.

GW2 isn’t a perfect game by any means, but this would allow them to explore all new stories without completely dropping their old ones.

That said, they would lose a ton of people if they made a reboot/sequel. A lot of people are at the moment only hanging on because of a sunk cost investment - they’re invested in WoW and feel a connection to it. If you ask me, rebooting would lose a lot of those people - and I really can’t blame them, even if you offer incentives in the new game, they’d have a lot to leave behind. Thousands of hours in some cases.

As long as I can keep all my pets and mounts if another WoW is made. Otherwise I will just stick with what we have now.

I rather people just move on already.

WoW 2

Unreal 4 engine. So ready

Neither:

Just have the next expansion be “good.”

When a new expansion is out, that “IS WOW” for me. They’ve already shown they can change everything, regarding characters, just for a new expansion.

Both require time, money and effort on Blizzard’s part, neither I think they want to invest in since they’re earning revenue with the current game and Classic soon. On the other side of that coin you have a lot of players who won’t look forward to starting over. As said earlier, the best formula for success is a good expansion with decent gameplay.

Don’t know if it’s been said already but I’d rather have an MMO in the Diablo or Starcraft universe.

Continue with the current wow. If I had to choose I would choose a new story over rebooting of the current one.

I imagine with option 2 the trailer being a Gul’Dan version 4.0 opening a portal towards a different time line, stepping forward and its the beginning of WoW and from there on its WoW reboot.

Wildstar tried to do it and it failed very quickly. within a short time they went free to play and then closed.

It had done many new things with good combat and difficult play style.

More recent MMOs do everything better than WoW, from graphics to combat to customization and storytelling and user interface. I would really like to see this universe evolve with the current technology already.
