Would you play a WoW character with your face on it?

Was playing around a bit with Throne and Liberty, and there’s a fun feature where you can upload a photo of your face, and have it be your in-game face as well.

It doesn’t seem to be working properly, which made me sad lol, but it begs the question-

Would you play a character with your own face?

I know I would- but probably on a gnome or something like that lol. I’d make it silly in my own way.

I think it’s the funniest self-insert I’ve seen. You just see your character, and you’re like “Yeah, that’s totally me”.

And no, I’m not afraid of people finding me based on what I look like- I’ve got a twin brother so I guess I’ve never really been all that concerned lol.

Also I wonder how they’re mitigating abuse of that feature in the way that, let’s be honest, we all immediately thought of.

Lol they ‘say’ they delete the photos upon being sent in, but yeah, no real way to confirm that lmao.

I still think it’s neat, dubiousness aside.

There was some Madden or NBA game from years ago, where you could do the same thing on athletes, make-your-own-character kinda deal.

Wrestling games too. I think they still have that feature, seemed successful.

Wouldn’t be too surprised if Street Fighter or Soul Calibur had it too, at this point.

Nope.

I don’t even like looking at my mug in real life. I definitely don’t want to see it in my games.

I remember when Ravenshield terrorists/tangos were simply just the devs faces.

But those were people who had a public face anyway. Ya’ll wouldn’t want my ugly mug. Safer that way. No mirrors get broken.

Nah. Mostly because I also don’t really want to see other people’s faces either, I imagine that there will be a genius out there that uses a picture of something that isn’t their face and then it gets into all sorts of ugly.

And I bet my forehead compared to yours, makes mine a fivehead lmao. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s normal for most people to be hyper-critical of their own features.

As someone who works with the public, I’ve seen all types. Very rarely do I see someone that’s conventionally “ugly” lol. And even so, you don’t judge a book by its cover. They are often very cool people.

I think everyone is pretty or handsome in their own ways. :blue_heart:

I doubt my face would work for an Orc.

Yep, I’d play nothing but Human if this were a thing. I am very comfortable and secure with my appearance.

True. I see lots of patients all day long. Even people with congenital defects. I still think they look better than I do.

In 40 years I’ve had exactly one good photo of me taken by a photographer for a Ford Commercial in the early 90s. Just one. The rest of my photos. Nope. In fact, if I see people looking for a group photo, I’m like trying to hide off the side or stand behind someone taller.

That’s what I like about WoW; I can be the complete and TOTAL opposite of what I am in real life. My face on a mob. Nope.

I thought about being a streamer too. But only if I wear a funny mask or something like a Murloc head.

torn about this tbh

on one hand, nobody wants to see that

on the other, would make for a slick and cheesy one-liner

“somehow, darth hideous has returned”

One day an NPC is gonna turn their face towards me, and it’s gonna be someone’s buttcheeks lmao.

I wouldn’t blight my WoW character in that way.

No. I hate myself way too much. Games are supposed to be an exit from reality.
