Dreamhaven will save us sometime this year or next.
The only thing this game needs is a dev team with a large enough vision to understand that an MMORPG should be big and diverse and full of various activities for all kinds of players.
And it should NEVER feel parsimonious or spiteful.
Unreal Engine looks pretty in those flyover videos but it’s routinely been proven to be an awful engine for actually playing in an open world.
On top of which, WoW has an immediately distinctive aesthetic and style. The visuals could be described as “cartoony”, but the fact remains that no one else has (or can) properly emulated it.
I wouldn’t mind seeing old armour items and features out in the world (trees, etc) retextured to meet current standards, but somehow that would probably cause more problems than it’s worth.
