Because remastered almost always comes with new graphics, etc - don’t fool yourself into thinking it does not, it does
Pretty sure WoW would be really good if it was anywhere close to what they show in Cinematics.
And right now, that level of graphics is very much possible due to Raytracing and Unreal Engine.
Would that alienate people who cannot run it? Yeah. WoW is known to be accessible in graphics.

Other than updating old mounts, armor/weapon models, and zones? No, not really. I like World of Warcraft’s art style and really am never really impressed when I see one of the Unreal Engine videos.
I’d like to see WoW rebuilt using something like the Overwatch engine. Same timeless, cartoony look and feel, but vastly more modern than the current WoW system.
no it already looks goofy enough, lets all admit the truth, the graphics look better in classic already, the models, textures, and tone where better in 2004, do you really think they could do better suddenly if so far they’ve only made it look worse

In my opinion the dev team or teams the past couple of xpacs will find a way to have all the greatest intentions then totally fall short.

This is the kind of “remaster” I could get behind - bring all the ancient stuff up to part with modern WoW.
Some people too often forget the difference between “graphics technology” and “artistic style” - You can still do colorful, exaggerated, and cartoon-y with more polygons and clearer textures just fine. The style is great, but the technology? … the fact that so much of early WoW would be laughed off the PS2 for how badly the graphics hold up is not.

Yeah I feel like this is one of the two main drawbacks if they did some kind of remaster. The second negative being a diversion of funds and dev-time to something that is superficial, when the core gameplay and design needs work.
Again, this is just a “what-if”, like, “wouldn’t it be cool” if the game was updated to Overwatch graphics, while keeping the same art style. Other pipedreams include: crossplatform w/ consoles and more controller support similar to FF14’s implementation.

If anyone is curious the public interest just in this thread is ~15:28 mostly 1:2 in favor of no graphical overhauls. Everyone seems to A) like old-school graphics; B) not trust Blizzard to do it right; and C) would rather Blizz focus on other things.
Yes, exactly. I mean, just imagine the game - as it is now - but with some decent shaders on it. Like, take a look at Overwatch and how metal looks like metal, skin looks like skin, that kind of thing. Add some dynamic cloth and hair physics, some more procedural animation (so that, for example, character’s feet line up with the ground on slopes), some better lighting… It could look really good without turning in to the Warcraft movie.

I like the cartooney graphics… needs more of an engine rebuild perhaps to make way for actual improvements to deepen game play and get rid of some of the painful things that feel way too old for current games.
New graphics != new art style. I’m still not sure why there is this insistence that Blizzard would just toss out the Warcraft art style with an update, given that it hasn’t happened through multiple games / decades.
This wouldn’t take me away from WoW but your idea, along with being able to copy a character over, I’m so in.

I never said they couldn’t develop software even if it is crappy lately. I stated a remaster of WoW isn’t possible.
