It’s because Oakland doesn’t want to give the Oakland Athletics a new stadium. So for years the team has been trying to find a new stadium to be in.
Las Vegas offered and considering the Raiders moved to Las Vegas couple of years ago, why not the Athletics?
It’s Oakland’s fault honestly.
This topic has been discussed since the first Blizzcon happened. The reason they did them in Anaheim was because they had basically all the staff and a ton of assets (statues, props, etc.) from the HQ office on site. The costs to replicate that somewhere with more travel would be insane.
Now, if they don’t do the same Blizzcon show and pared it down they could do it elsewhere.
Vegas is tacky in my opinion. However, some people find that fun and silly. So over the top that it is just worth seeing once. I felt meh about it. Your mileage may vary.
What is GOOD about Vegas is that it has flights going into it at cheap rates from nearly anywhere. Lots of hotel shuttles to get around. It has a ton of hotel options at varying prices that makes it a lot easier to find somewhere to stay. It also has a lot of activities to do outside of Blizzcon. So not just Disney and associated stuff like in CA.
To meet up with friends. The announcements can be seen anywhere online. The friends you spend time with, the new friends you make, the networking, the in person laughs. It is 100% for me about that. The Overwatch reveal in person was really really moving though and I will never forget that. But it was the people that made it so moving.
The friends ARE Blizzcon, at least to me.
It will be interesting when done. It is a very busy intersection already. I would hate to see it on game day. At least the Strip is walkable.
You have over eighteen thousand posts, I have under four thousand. We are not the same.
nah i’d only go if it was on the east coast near me(i’m near dc). i’m not spending thousands to go to a convention
But you said you dont like us. In fact you said you never want to meet us.
I never said that.
Vegas far better then So cal…
Tons more crap to do in vegas …
I wouldn’t go to Blizzcon if it was 5 minutes away from me because large crowds aren’t my thing.
Might as well say Singapore. Can’t afford the tickets themselves, let alone travel across the country and a hotel room.
When I was younger I greatly enjoyed the lively atmosphere of large conventions but these days I much prefer the virtual experiance.
I mean really, I can wear my comfy pajamas, drink from my favourite mug, have a cat on my lap, use a clean/private bathroom when needed (and then catch what I missed in the on demand replay). It’s super cozy and fun.

I don’t see myself ever going to Blizzcon mostly for expenses, the amount of time to travel and attend it, and general social anxiety.
It is a significant amount of time that would need to be taken in order to attend the event, including traveling to and from the event. Even if travel wasn’t an issue, it is very expensive to attend it.
And even then, I honestly don’t know what all I would even do there. I don’t see anyone particularly wanting to meet me IRL and my social anxiety would likely be through the roof at this type of event anyway. And playing anything there doesn’t seem appealing when I get enough enjoyment just reading articles and watching videos of stuff there until it officially releases. So I really don’t see what all I would do there as a result.
Not to mention that getting any announcements there on the same tier as Shadowlands or something like Earthen would likely sour the whole event for me. Really not something I’d want to spend a lot of money on to see announced in-person if I’m being completely honest.
Thus I’m much more happier being at home to watch livestreams of announcements. I can be comfy, be with my dogs, and not risk coming home having caught something from the event that could get passed onto my elderly parents I’m helping to take care of.
So while the event could be fun in some ways, I’m perfectly content just watching stuff from home.

It wouldn’t matter to me where they do Blizzcon and I doubt they have anything awesome to talk about this year.
Here’s my prediction:
Mobile games
More battlepasses
More free to play cashing in
and something that is years away from finished
For me the question is just whether or not I go to blizzcon, not really dependent on the location of the event (Assuming I’d have to fly either way).
I would be less likely to go if it were in Las Vegas.
Not interested in whatever city it is in.
Nope. I already don’t do conventions, and I go to Vegas all the time, to deliver all the fancy crap Vegas needs in order to be Vegas; so it’s already mid to me.
But I could understand the appeal.
