thank you for help
when i mention overclocking the GPU portion, it wont help your minimum framerates in Raids. But it will let you turn up the eye-candy a bit without losing frames.
CPU will still be your choke in heavily populated content with lots of particles and effects going on.
So this is the computer I was able to finally put together on PCPP, I went a little over the $500 budget, but it took a bit to find parts that were compatible with lower prices and good ratings. Again, I am not very tech savvy but do you all think this would be able to run WoW without looking bad like my son’s Roblox game? No offense to Roblox. I’ll definitely look up the YouTube videos you all suggested. Thanks for all the input and any further help!

One last thing I forgot…If this is all the parts I need to get a computer running, will it have an interface to access internet so I can download my Wins 10?
I’d double check the motherboards RAM QVL - from my experience with Ryzen, you want to get a good RAM kit that is going to be compatible with your board without issues. Maybe even look on forums for that specific board and see what kind of kits others are getting good results from and buy the same kit.
Also, your motherboard has built in Ethernet, so as long as you can hook up a physical Ethernet cable, you’re good.
You will want to use your existing computer and a USB stick to download from Microsoft a Windows 10 installation media. It will contain the most up to date version of Windows and you use that USB stick to install onto the new system.
Personally, I feel if you are getting a discrete GPU, you should try to get a Ryzen 5 1600 or 2600; you won’t be using the iGPU in the 2200g, and these chips have a bit more room (6/12 vs 4/4). In WoW, the benefits aren’t going by to be extreme, but in other games, having more than 4 threads is helpful. For $50, I feel it’s worth it if you can swing it. The argument against it, that you won’t use most of those cores anyway, is equally legitimate. This is just my personal view.
That said, if you are really strapped for cash, I would keep your choices but omit the GPU and see if you like the performance of the iGPU first.
If it’s good enough, you saved yourself $150. If not, then get the GPU.
Good and bad I haven’t got around to it yet but the review for the latest TR4 block it stops a tiny bit short you can get an extra 3-4C by adding washers to get a bit more pressure on IHS.
TR4 in itself hasn’t gotten as much love as AM4 for watercooling parts.
That works for stuff that was out when your MB was released. If you get a kit binned for Ryzen/Threadripper you have a good chance your not going to have issues.
I should have chosen better memory for my Ryzen system, but I wanted to save $20.
Oh well, 2666 CL15 is good enough I guess.
You should have, if you had gotten the g skill flare X 3200 cl 14. You would have better performance honestly
But it’s also $200 for a kit
IDK if you bought it yet but I’d like to give an alternate
IDK about your stance on eBay but the whole website is 10% off today only
There’s official legit sellers like Newegg, best buy, outlet PC, just gotta make sure you find the right sellers
I bet if you added the same parts you have listed now you’d probably get it for $500 cuz the 10% off
Yeah. Would have defeated the purpose of my “dirt cheap build”
$265 for CPU/mobo/16gb hard to argue even if only 2666/cl15
Only issue i see is you will want faster RAM.
You can get a good kit of DDR4-3000 or better for not much more (10-20$). Ryzen REALLY likes fast RAM.
As Sal said, check the QVL list for that motherboard (their website will have a list of all compatible RAM and at what speeds) to get a kit that is compatible out of the box so you dont have to tinker with it, just set the XMP profile and be done.
As for Windows… use your current computer, get a 5$ 8 or 16GB flash drive (use one on hand if you have one), and use Microsoft’s own Installer Creation tool on their website to create and up-to-date WIn 10 installer.
Youll need to get a key somewhere (either from Microsoft if you want to get gouged, or the Grey Market if you dont), or deal with not being able to change the desktop or shut off the Telemetry settings (but you can use it for free indefinitely that way).
You can always install without a key for now and buy one later if you cant afford it right now.
Otherwise, looks good and will deliver solid framerates at 1080p/high settings in most games.
