People reroll to perceived meta. It is choice.
Lack of viability isn’t even the question when people are doing keys needing double the output requirements.

I say this with confidence as someone who plays all the tanks.
They do for sure, but that is a massive disparity. Like there is no way that is good for the game, is all I’m saying.
I’d like to see other tank/healer specs get a buff so they are more viable.
People flock towards meta, but that doesn’t mean there’s a balance issue in 10s.
Would be like arguing which classes have an easier time, leveling to ten.
It’s so minute to the point of it not mattering.
I think you’re talking about viability, while I was acknowledging a difference in ease. I tank 8x 10s every week on both my VDH and my Pally. I enjoy both, but Pally has significant advantages right now. Pally is tankiest, has most utility, and does most damage. It’s the trifecta hat trick.
There will always be tier lists and some specs rated above and below. The problems are when there are outliers far from pack at top or bottom.
I sometimes wonder if they made prot pally op for 2nd half of season as apology for how bad it was at start.
I dont think so.
Tanking and healing is a personal playstyle.
People can learn those roles but only true tanks and healers enjoy the role.
I’m not seeing anything wrong with this.
Let me know when they apologize to Brewmasters, and we can inform Brewa too when that happens.
Tanking for PUGS isn’t fun, the DPS make it a chore that the rewards don’t compensate for. No plans to do it on any of my tanks any more, possibly ever. It’s not my job to carry you through your fun.
Soloing and delvs on my tanks are pretty awesome though, so winner winner chicken dinner.
Healing for groups isn’t great but it’s not as bad. The solo aspects of the game are enough to make me not want to play my healers though.
If I’m pushed to switch to a DPS spec for a lot of content then I might as well just play DPS. Actually only leveled one of my healers so far.
DPS on the other hand is pretty much always blameless fun devoid of responsibility. DPS will always vastly outnumber tanks/healers.
Tanks should get an automatic loot from the end of every run and like 5k gold.
Watch, still nobody would tank.
300g would not cover repairs…… saying that feels ridiculous. But at the moment, doing my preferred content (mythic+) is really feeling like a major gold sink.
No gold. Never enough crests. They purposefully give you one less crest than you need to upgrade next item thus making players “just run one more key”. The constant changes to money grabbing and trickle down is really feeling bad.
I want to play the game. Feeling like I CAN’T because have to spend 80 hours just to upgrade items.
Yeah… it is kinda dumb how long they try to draw out gearing. Its been a thing since sl when they nerfed the drop rate if items from mythic plus by half.
There is nothing they can do that wouldn’t be called unfair.
Like you have have two tanks I time 8-10s on weekly, also have a healer and 2 dps that I do the same on. All 632 item level all almost 2800 io.
The only way to make it worth my time is to maybe give me a piece of myth gear each time I tank, or some cool transmog. But once I get the rewards I will simple not be part of it any longer.
Make tanking easier. Even when tanking is easy this is still an issue
Make healing easier. Again still an issue.
This season has been a poop show. The dungeons are largely not fun, the challengers perril is gross,.
I was all for the tank changes, I agree healers should have to heal more and a tank should rely on the healer to keep them alive.
On my paladin if I don’t have defensives running as I pull three packs in a 12 key I literally plop over dead. The 1st boss in threads if I don’t have a defensive up for subjugate I plop over dead, pretty much any tank buster in mythic plus keys with out defensives running and all buffs up I plop over dead. Plopping over dead means the healer does get the chance to heal me.
Warrior feels much better and has more room for error, but the. You get into zone like necrotic wake where mobs constantly cast and I have no way to group them.
It feels bad……
I know people will say get a set group. And I more or less have one. But you might as well tell me not to log on when they aren’t online if I want to advance. Truth is when they aren’t online I try to pug and as a tank I find I dye very quick while pulling but once the mobs are grouped the two tanks I play feel pretty tanky.
This will be the first season in 3 seasons I have not hit 3k+ on all of the toons I play. It could be a me issues but I think it’s more a bad design issue.
I honestly think 2700 this season requires the same level of effort as 3k in the past.
Maybe, but if you can time 10s you can time 11s the brick wall comes at 12s.
I can’t tell you the number of keys that brick on the first pull because the tank pulls and almost instantly falls over dead.
I don’t have an issue with the gearing, not since they made gilded available in 8s. In my experience…
My co-mains are 635 and 632. Some of my friends hit 630, got all their portals, and took a break till next season. The more we speed stuff up, the faster we run out of stuff to do. People complained about systems like artifact power taking long; now they complain about having lulls in 2nd half of seasons.
One of the things I feel would increase tanks in m+ has nothing to do with m+.
More raids with off tanking mechanics. Current when a raid needs only 2 tanks, yet many more dps/healers that will make a person less likely to tank in m+.
Generally I feel people prefer playing their role in all content. Not switching it based on raiding/m+.
If a person has to go dps for raid, they are more likely to stay dps for m+
Yeah that’s where I am now. 10s are almost authentic with experienced group in 630 gear. 11s are perfectly doable, just less room for error. 12s are a whole new level of challenge.
My biggest challenge at the moment is building a group of competent-but-chill friends that feel motivated to push higher. Too easy to call it good once portals are in the bag.
I would like to see this some how implemented.
I don’t want every encounter to need 4 tanks. But I do think we need some single tank encounters and some 4 tanks encounters.
Ideally I think it would be cool if the raid kept the group trifecta 1 tank 1 healer 3 dps. Again in raids I don’t think every encounter needs 4 tanks. But it would be cool if we had some dps in the raid who could go tank for specific encounters.
