Would like some help [Survival Hunter] (PvP)

Been looking around for some info on how you are meant to deal damage as Survival Hunter.

I really enjoyed it last expansion, but it seems very different now (came back after a break) Would anyone be willing to help with some advice/guidance or point me in the direction of somewhere I could locate some?

I have taken a look at some of the gladiator pvper videos and while they give a very light explination of an opener, I am a bit confused to how to maintain the sustained combat and currently i am at a loss when I drain a lot of my focus on how to improve.

I am currently testing and practicing on live, but wanted to reach out and see if anyone would be able or willing to assist.

Thank you in advance.

YouTube bicmex. He’s got you.

(He’s got a two-hour guide that was just uploaded)

Watch Bicmex in twitch and youtube. Survival is more about knowing when to just dot and LoS/kite and when to go all in, than having a rotation. In fact, in melee jsut spam mongoose bite with the kill commands and flanking strike needed to keep doing it and bomb on cd. When on Coordinated assault, essentially kill shot-bomb- and mongoose bite/kill command waiting for another kill shot and bomb. That’s the easy part…knowing when to go all in is the hardest part and you require knowledge of other classes to know that. You need knowledge of all the classes to pvp overall, but survival has to be one of the most dependant on it, because if not, you simply die.

I guess just linking it would have been the way to go lol

I gotta ask… why ask for all this help and not post on the toon you want it for ? It helps to see gear, talents, stats etc, no? Just seems odd to me.

A lot of people play and ask questions on several classes per week / month. You only see notifications for the current posting character so in order to see replies to all your posts if you were to change toons to make them you would then have to swap to each one.

There are more altoholics than not.

Yeah no I get all that, but how can someone give the type of advice he is asking without seeing talent setup, gear, stats, enhancements etc? and even pulling logs of that specific character… just sayin…

There ya go, in case this made a difference. For me i just post on whatever character it selects for me when i log in. But if it helps this is me

Reroll or unsub.

UNLESS you have Bicmexian sponsorship. But as a pleb like me and plenty of others? Forget it.

Nah

Lol, L2P issue

Basically, for sustain you want to maximize your mongoose without putting yourself too much in danger. Your best friend is your 8 yards melee range. You need to abuse it as much as possible against other melees because you can’t go toe to toe with them due to lack of defensives, no other way around it really.

You weave in your ranged attacks, create distance. A good rule of thumb is that for every explosive shot, you flanking strike. If you can’t run explosive shot because of bola breaking CCs in certain match-ups, just make sure you flanking strike often because giving focus to your pet also make their basic ability do double damage at double cost since they’ll get above 50 focus from it.

For coordinated assault you want to mongoose at least once first to give your pet time to give you the coordinated assault buff before you kill shot, otherwise you’ll be missing out of the 50% bleed. Using a weak aura for it helps. Generally speaking, doing mongoose > mongoose > kill shot > wildfire bomb is your best chance at maximizing your burst on coordinated assault if you don’t want to deal with tracking weak aura on the buff, gives you the best chance at empowering both kill shot and wildfire bomb. (You get the buff whenever your pet uses his basic attack ability)
Other than that it’s just a matter of controlling the game. Harpoon trap the healer, abuse entrapment and steel trap in match ups that can’t deal with physical roots like demon hunters.

You’ll be changing your spec and PvP talents around a lot to fit the match up. Switching between spearhead and wildfire infusion depending on whether you need to play more range or more melee.

L2P a different spec, more so a different class! Let’s be honest: how many SV mains right can even get on Bicmex’s level? And I’m not asking because I don’t know the answer.

Sounds like there’s no other way around understanding that ranged is the true range type to go all about it. Don’t get off the melee boat unless you are going all the way.

Isn’t it awesome that no other class/spec has to be told this as how to play? Not even Outlaw gets told this.

Class>spec>comp>gear>skill. Let the CC be done by the actual CC professionals.

I just love how I can just dominate a SV at that range before I’m already at melee range in the next global if I’m playing a solid melee class/spec. Early Turtle and chicken’s done.

It’s a nice guide you wrote. Looks great and I’m not being flippant, but man you need to bring out your inner Donald and cut some epic deals with people to make it work.
