i really like playing havoc Demon hunter… I’ve read a lot of topics on dh… so, i figure id give my opinion about the spell The Hunt… I would like them to keep this spell, however … it needs to be less obvious to pvp opponent’s when activated. the gap is to wide when trying to use it , for others to stun…
needs to be instant, and green (to be more confusing)
Green or purple with black, and a sound of fel or something instead of the sharp Ardenweald sound
Yeah I find it really lazy that they just literally copy and pasted the covenant abilities. The least they could have done was rework them to fit better thematically. It just seems so out of place to have a blue Kyrian ability that does nature damage when everything else is fel/fire related. Especially when you factor in the long-term design of the class.
It isn’t lazy. Just like Elysian Decree and Fodder to the Flame, the Hunt has its exact shadowlands animation because demon hunters mastered the abilities well enough that they were able to bring them back into the world of the living with them. That’s impressive. My warlock didn’t bring anything back.
In the Shadowlands, the anima has different tones according to the different regions and is a source of energy that is in the Shadowlands itself, that energy should not be something that we can get out of there (unless we consume our own anima, which would be consuming part of the essence of our souls and therefore necromancy), in fact it was because of this that you could not use the power of the covenants out of the shadowlands.
Sure our characters could master those abilities, but they shouldn’t be able to access the same source of power/energy, therefore they should mimic the effects partly or totally through their own strength and magic. So it shouldn’t be a copy and paste.
Use this to your advantage. Cast it when they are low and cancel it after like .5 seconds to try to bait a bubble or parry.
Edit: what I do to avoid being CCd. I double jump vengeful retreat (with glimpse PvP talent) cast the hunt mid air and you won’t be stopped because glimpse buff (cc immunity) stays on the whole time because you technically never touch the ground. Till you connect to your target, also using vengeful retreat will proc initiative (increase crit chance) and momentum (damage buff)
i agree … however other classes spells are not as obvious as the hunt… just wondering why this spell is an exception… in this case id like a pause for the warrior when it does the spin kill.
Like I said use it to your advantage, fake cast hunt is a thing that people will react to. It’s a good thing because you can get trinkets and defensives without using an ability.
I think several classes bringing a covenant skill with them along with ysera returning with ardenweald coloring on her body and her fire along with the fact that maw magic has been on Azeroth for over a decade all proves that shadowlands anima magic isn’t “trapped” there.
The tooltips for the spells even specifically say that you’re calling upon the kyrian or ardenweald etc
And I believe that Blizzard has shown storytelling inconsistencies for more than a decade now and that this is another example of its mediocrity when it comes to being consistent with its own world in terms of gameplay and not working too hard for something that they consider trivial, unlike people who do like a consistent world with rules. One of Blizzard’s mottos is “Gameplay first” after all.
