I am playing a priest and have all my talents in Shadow except for wand specialization. I am going to ding 40 tonight and I 'm sitting at 107g. I am strongly considering respeccing for Shadowform. This would be my first respec. I see people come down on all sides of the issue in old forums (i.e. getting it at 40 or waiting till 45). I leveled a shadow priest in vanilla, but I dont remember what I did honestly. What are people’s thoughts in 2019?
the first respec is 1g
the second is 5g
if you have the gold respec as much as you want
Half your damage as shadow is still wand damage so not sure why you would take points out of + wand damage.
In the grand scheme of things it won’t matter at all… IMO
Pretty sure you want Shadowform as quickly as possible. No harm in respeccing at 40 to get it, then throw points back in wand specialization. It’s literally 1g to respec your first time.
Absolutely terrible idea. Shadowform is cool and all but your Wand talent is literally your bread and butter Talent until you hit 60.
Just wait a few levels.
Dang man no you can’t respec that would be insane think about that 1 gold loss… that would take some serious will power
Most of the Priests I’ve been grouping with have been waiting till 45 for shadowform.
Honestly don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Save your gold. Don’t respec.

You wouldn’t be crazy, it’s either 25% wand damage or 15% spell damage and 15% physical damage mitigation. Seems to be a pretty even trade off, i’d personally pay the 1g just to have the cool looking shadow form and let others around know not to mess with you. You already have more than enough for your mount, the 1g isn’t going to break the bank.

Do you want to respec? If yes, then do it.
Are you feeling any issues with your current spec? Are you trying to resolve them? If no, then why bother?
When I respec’d at 40 to take Shadowform I noticed a bump in my shadow damage, for sure. But the wand damage did take a noticeable dip. I’d say overall my damage didn’t change much, but as I’ve been leveling and putting points back into wand spec, it’s been getting much better. I’d say it’s worth the respec if you spend a lot of time leveling solo.
Thats what I was looking for. I guess for me, I take forever leveling and I am excited about shadowform. Did you have more downtime once you respecced (i.e. mana issues)?
In the beginning I had very slightly more downtime but it was hardly noticeable. I was drinking maybe once every 10 pulls, instead of only drinking if I pulled multiple mobs by accident.
Now that I’ve leveled up and put a few points into wands my downtime is almost negligible unless I mess up a pull.

Sure wand dmg is nice but hear me out… after 40 youre going to get more items with increased spell dmg…
The closer you get to 60 the more % dmg will be from spells
I’m going for 10 points in holy for faster heals in dungeons and leaving the wand points for later.

Isn’t the first respec 5 gold? I could swear it was … otherwise, I have a few characters I’d like to respec already, lol.
Honestly, I’d wait the 5 levels. It’s not that long and you could get a bunch of XP from healing dungeons while getting there.

I went shadow at 40 and if I had to do it again, I would. Then again, I play on a pvp server and wand does nothing for pvp. However, it was also worth it for PVE, bigger dots offset to some degree the lesser wand damage. And I re-added 4 points to want by level 44 and it still setting at 4 at level 52, I don’t feel like I need more wand damage at all.
Shadow form is extremely good for both damage and survivability. You’re essentially bumping yourself up an entire armor class. Inner fire makes you equivalent to a leather user and shadowform makes you equivalent to a mail user.
Imo the increased survivability and shadow damage increase makes up for the lost wand damage for 5 levels.
I didnt even take that into consideration, its a good point though!
