Would anyone be opposed to just completely removing combat racials?

They did it with profession perks back in cataclysm? because they just couldn’t balanced it. Even if it is a 1% increase, people chase it end up chasing even the ones not competing for top 100.

So I wonder, would anyone be opposed to just removing them and buffing the other non combat racials that are more utility? People would be free to play whatever they want without having to sim their freaking race.

Wouldn’t you want Blizzard to throw an incentive to your still-shrinking faction to possibly bring a few more end-game content players back to Alliance before they seal the deal on people ever going back?

I would be so miffed if they took my racials away.

Freaking all day people complain about how many abilities have been pruned away and here we are again, asking the devs to take away more.

I’m still fascinated by why profession perks were removed.

For the bonuses they provide, it’s only the top percentage that consider profession rerolls required.

I say buff diplomacy :+1:

I would definitely be in favor of either removing them, or implementing some way for players to pick and choose from all racial abilities regardless of which race your character is. An explanation for making them all available could be magic, an item, character was an orphan raised by another race, or something else entirely (I’m sure Blizzard can be more creative than me on this).

Racials are important to an RPG imo, so yes, i would care.

People need to deal with not being the best and just enjoy the game without the .05% advantage.

But… I would go hungry without my racial :frowning:

I don’t worry about it when making my own characters, what I do care about though is the impact that miniscule advantage has had on faction population due to all the hardcore players going Horde.

I don’t disagree, but this is something Blizzard needs to figure out. Removing racials, a core RPG feature I enjoy, will not make me happy and most likely will not help the faction divide.

I wouldn’t remove them from the game…

Just disable them in Mythic PVE and Rated PVP content. Everywhere else, they’re fine.

I would be pretty bothered if i lost shadowmeld.

Right? Something they brought over from the RTS because of how much racial flavor it brought being removed is just ludacris to me.

Also, if LFD lost their death laser, I’d be salty.

Yes. As an RPG, your racial choice should matter, even if it’s minuscule. Which it is, especially now. The faction balance is an issue for sure, but removing racials won’t help the Alliance get more people, and it won’t be well received by many who chose their race based on the ability it had.

Honestly, I’d prefer to see more for each race because this game is sorely lacking in the RPG aspect. I would love to see more individuality based on each. But that’s just me.

I also want to see the factions dissolved because I feel like they’re more trouble than they’re worth, so I’m just a mad moo.

Edit: I forgot the question was “would you be opposed?” and not “Should they be removed” so I initially said no, lol. Fixed now.

Yes I’m opposed to removing things that don’t need removing.

The racial issue is just a made up thing in players heads because a very select few think it actually makes a big difference to their performance when in reality it does not

Please, Blizzard, let me make less choices, my thinking brain is hurting while I play!

If you take away the ability for me to throw myself off cliffs and still live, I will be LIVID. That is my primary form of travel…

Horde probably would

Yup

I agree with this, but as long as you have min/maxxers and unintended consequences we’re going tohave this problem and right now it’s a problem that I don’t see a solution for.

Yes it’s a problem, and it’s been a problem for a long time, but taking away racials won’t fix the problem. It’s too entrenched now. If they took away racials there wouldn’t be a reason to roll horde other than preference and the current faction imbalance, but there wouldn’t be a reason to go back to Alliance. All the hard core myhtic pushers and pvp players are still gonna go horde cus that’s where the population is right noe. You’d need to give some sort of incentive and free transfers. That’s never gonna happen.

And all of a sudden the OP’s suggestion doesn’t seem so bad.
