Blizzard adding an extra cosmetic option to allow Void Elf to have more skin color options. A non-purple skin option to be exact. I think this would placate the pro High Elf crowd as they’d now be able to create a High Elf looking Void Elf.

So, just dropping my two cents in here…

There are certainly people out there that something like that WOULD satisfy, there ARE people who would be more than happy with just a skin option and a way to disable the “void” transformation effect.

There are, however, from my observations over the past many months a larger crowd, I would argue, that don’t want a simple reskin. A crowd that wants an entirely separate race/allied race with their own Heritage Armor, their own Voice Lines (Jokes, flirts, ect), their own look, ect. and I feel like they have a valid reason for preferring that.

How weird would it feel to be playing a High Elf Skinned Void Elf and yet, aside from a minor visual change, everything else about them is still “Void Elf”? They sounds, their voices, their heritage armor, their mount, being called a “Void Elf” by NPC’s in game, ect.

While I think that there are certainly people who would be fine with just a skin I feel like that would not satisfy a lot of them.

If the argument is made “Well, the skin would also change all those things” then my question is this. Why not just make another Allied Race instead if all that effort would go into it and basically turn it into another allied race anyway.

So, I guess to summarize, I am sure it would satisfy a “group” of people but I am pretty sure that it would not satisfy the majority of High Elf supporters.

I think its a fair point to discuss and gather opinions on though.

I wouldn’t be against it because people could finally make their “High Elves” but the entire reason their skin is purple is due to the corruption of the void. So it wouldn’t really make any sense.

It might be, but did it warrant an entirely new thread instead of posting in an existing thread about high elves? There are two others currently in the top 20, one of them being the actual megathread.

I don’t object to any customization options, within reason obviously. I don’t think you should be able to make a dwarf and them customize him into a goblin.

Well, in my defense, the question I’m asking in this thread is different. I’m not talking about creating a separate High Elf race.

It would fit perfectly in the megathread, which is a general catch-all for discussing high elf thoughts and ideas. I’m also fairly certain that this is not a new idea and has been discussed before in the megathread.

I get it though, you think your idea is special (we all think that about our own ideas) and you want it to be heard by as many people as possible. But the thing is, if we all made new threads about every great idea that we have, the forums would be full to bursting with multiple threads, moreso than normal at any rate.
