I was playing swtor the other day and was impressed by the detail they put into the voice acting for the player characters. While WoW would have to do something different if they implemented voice acted lines for our playable characters I wanted to ask if that would be a good thing for the story or not?
On the one hand it would help our characters to feel more like main characters within the story. On the other it would distract from the other all story. I don’t know if it would be good for the story or not so what do you think?
no, because Baine basically already took the perfect VA for the tauren male.

ESO is 100% voice acted for all quests you do.
Have to remember that ToR also has a ton a of RPG elements like dialogue options, which makes VA necessary.
It would be cool to have, not gonna lie. But WoW lacks a lot of the systems that ToR has that makes it work for that MMO

Maybe I’m too bitter but I don’t see how it would help. At the very least, it would take away from the player their imagination of what their own character may sound like, or how they might want to respond “in between” whatever NPCs say.
You also have a problem if a voice actor no longer becomes available and needs to be replaced. I heard that happened with the male charr VA in Guild Wars 2 and it created some dissonance between old and newer lines as a result.

Honestly I’d just be happy getting to choose some different voice packs. It’s always been funny to me that some Forsaken like Shadowmaster Kiryn have voices as smooth as silk. But the PC sounds like an aging Orlando barfly who just narrowly escaped a house fire.

Speaking of Kiryn, she’s a pretty cool forsaken NPC. She was a ton of fun during MoP.

I think it would be impossible. The range of possible voices available in WoW is too broad. My mains are a Goblin, a Forsaken and a Blood Elf - all of which have pretty distinctive manners of speech.
NPCs are, but never the player, which is the question in the thread.
And we don’t care about her weird dead face.

I remember when what’s his face, forgot the name of the hozen, freaks out when he realizes his love interest is undead.
It still makes me laugh on the occasions that I replay MoP

I like the pandaren being horrified at her wounds right after the plane crash, just to find out, no, she’s fine. She’s just like that.

If my character was voiced by anyone, it’d be Travis Willingham, but not as his Turalyon voice.
It’d be Reno’s
That or who ever voice acted Gale from BG3
I’ve been wanting this for ages. It would be nice if my blood elf monk didn’t sound so harsh and pompous. The generic male NPC’s have three variations, and I like two of them. I wish my monk could sound like them.
