Any other Wrath babies hopping back in to test their skills now as seasoned veterans? I was just starting high school when my friends introduced me to WoW in the WOTLK era. I recall knowing nothing about the game and just exploring and getting lost and hanging with them in front of Orgrimmar. Practically teared up logging in again as for me personally, this was the time I first picked up the game. Now I know how Classic players felt returning after so long. Just the login screen alone was enough to have the memories come flooding back.
Extra Info: All those friends are gone now, haven’t heard from them in over a decade.

I confess, that I only enjoyed Wrath when I joined, because I had friends to play with and I believe that’s the sole reason I didn’t just wash out and go play some other game. My friends are why I enjoy WoW, not Wrath.
That being said, I installed the game and plan on giving it a try, only because I gave Vanilla and BC Classic a fair shake and I feel like I have to do the same here. I just respect Wrath too much not to try it, but I sincerely doubt I’ll enjoy it like I did the first time.
We’ll see.
Vanilla player myself. I saw wrath as the beginning of the downfall personally. But starting fresh I kinda like it now. I still cannot decide between horde or alliance.
Cant wait for WoD and Legion classic!!!

I played classic during release and realized how badly Blizzard and the community screwed it up. I have zero interest in classic ever again. I’d rather go on a private server.

Well, Idk but thinking that is years away since Cata and mop come first…unless they just start doing expansion servers as they were…I would definitely do Legion again.
I was finally able to log in after about 40 minutes of waiting in queue and I had a blast on the fresh server and it was packed a lot more packed than I expected so hopefully it’s like this throughout the whole life of the server which who knows how long that’s going to be but it feels like the first week of classic vanilla all over again.
I’m having fun playing Wrath DK, forgot how cool it was.

Glad you’re having fun. Meanwhile they have to keep deleting the overwhelming negative feedback they are getting for all the bugs and changes they’ve made.
Not feeling it even a little. I’m a BC baby though, but even when I went back to try that, the nostalgia just wasn’t strong. I think my memories of that time made me fond of the people I knew back then, not the game. Elnomore, Ponie, Piroko, Avinius, Badbiig, Arrthur, my old GM Hazeon and his wife, Ferusnox, Marker and the folks in Night Shift on Farstriders server. That’s what I cherish.

I’m basically a wrathbaby, since I started playing BC so late.
It’s good to go back and see that playing blood dps DK is just as good as I remember it. Just reinforces what a stupid idea it was to take it from us.

Sure. Go to a private server were raid scripts hardly ever work right and cheating is rampant because Blizzard made some relatively minor changes to classic.
Makes sense.
I logged in and started a Death Knight got to Hellfire and logged off.

There’s no real way to replicate the time/era Vanilla/TBC/Wrath came out. Sure classic can be release and try it’s hardest but I think most people are only lying to themselves if they honestly believe it is the same experience.
You’re playing a game that was solved 14 years ago and the classic community sweats harder about min/max stuff than literally any retail raider I’ve ever seen. It’s wild.

I’ve been on dozens of private servers and i can tell you, they handle cheats and bots much better than blizzard. they also handle community feedback. i have not been on a single private server for classic that has world buffs allowed in instances. i have not been on a single one that hasnt patched the mage terrain exploits.
They’re a better experience. You just risk the server being shut down.
I do think what people originally wanted with classic was moments that they experienced back then, rather than the actual gameplay. The gameplay is better to some extent(though it would be better with lame stats like hit removed).
But it’s good that’s an option. It really always should have been an option.
All those fixes you mention though, they didn’t exist in the original game and shouldn’t exist now.
You’re trying to use hard coded rules to curate a true 2004 noob experience, and that’s just soulless as hell.
Open the gates, let people roam, and let it be.
I’m enjoying the fresh server the little I got to play last night and even though I’m having fun it’s not the same , got some great memories of TBC and the og pre-patch along with Wrath.
And that’s exactly why classic was horrible and i’ll never touch another version of classic.
