Has Blizzard stated one way or the other on what we’ll be doing Monday? Will we be logging on at 3 PM PST after an all day downtime, or will we already be online and waiting at the docks and the expansion launch will be seamless?
If Blizzard hasn’t said yet, feel free to speculate on what you think will happen.
The last few retail expansions have all been seamless to the best of my knowledge. But I’m also told TBC Classic had downtime ahead of its launch.
Its going to be amazing when I instantly log into the game while there are thousands of mega server sweat lords seething in a 20k+ person queue. It will be even funnier when I’m hitting level 72 and they are still stuck in the queue because their server crashed due to the stress and boots them all offline.
Yeah seamless, kinda like doing Sunwell at launch, 1 sec the portal doesn’t work, then the next you have a xp bar and can go in. No server restart etc.
I saw it kick in early without a reset because it was hard coded to start at a specific time, hell its possible the boats start early because if miscoding or late, but a server reboot would only be required if they didnt have the timers available in the code already.
1 the servers may crash frequently due to general logins.
2 the zepps/boats may crash often and frequently due to usage.
3 I can’t imagine if literally anything that’s not a player (and more on PVP serv) survives in borean tundra, and howling fjord for the first 48-72 hours.
4 Dungeons will be rushed/blitzed and there will be numerous, and i say NUMEROUS wipes per each pug dungeon run due to gear quality and complete ignorance of mechanics.
5 there may be queues on most realms (if not all).
the list goes on probably, but that’s just the start of why it will be anything BUT seamless.
