Wotlk - Graphic Settings - Max Foreground FPS Issue

The Max Foreground FPS doesn’t work.
I have set my foreground FPS to run at 100, but it has flown over 230+.

Same issue here. Enabling vsync is the only way I can lower the FPS, but that still has the FPS too high for GPU coil whine and stability issues.

Potentially related, for a few months, the foreground FPS limit has disabled while using the normal hearthstone. That’s the only thing I’ve seen cause it to seemingly toggle off though.

Can confirmed FPS is bugged, i’m getting horrible FPS and When i disable max background fps and alt tab it drops to 8 fps.

PTR for retail is having a similar issue with the limiters as well. Haven’t tested live retail today after the patch, so I can’t comment there.

Best trick I found to get them to reenable again was the disable both of the them, /reload to save settings, /console gxrestart to reboot the graphics engine, turn them back on, /reload to save their settings again, adjust the sliders to the frame rates I want, /reload to save yet again again, then do another /console gxrestart lol…

Yeah, I know, complete overkill. I don’t know if all the steps were needed, but I did them like that anyway and it got me control again. Even a /console cvar_default bugged out and didn’t fix them, which is where I found out the the other sliders and stuff get messed up as well. Sliders like the overall graphics slider. Had to do similar incremental stuff to get them to work again. Basically, they broke something in the slider UI logic and how they store/save/load/display/default variable values.

I was able to limit the FPS through nvidia settings

nvidia control panel → manage 3d settings → program settings → select wow.exe → max frame rate

this worked for the frames. Still having a problem where every time I go into system settings I notice the settings are dropping 1 lvl down each time I enter the system settings. Like the graphics quality, environment detail, ground clutter, SSAO, particle density, liquid detail and shadow quality.

My system settings are hosed right now.

Environmental Detail and Ground Clutter keep changing. I can literally close and reopen the window and watch those two settings change every time.

0 addons enabled and my fps is really bad.

I just reset my WTF, like literally last week. It takes an hour to get all of that back to normal. I really don’t want to do that again, Blizz.

This is also happening to me. I really hope they fix this. Never had any problems like this in any wow patch before. What is going on blizz?

Add this line – SET useMaxFPS “1” to your Config.WTF file and it will restore the FPS limiter. As far as the settings randomly changing themselves when you open graphics settings that will have to be fixed by Blizz.

Getting the exact same issue. Environmental Detail and Ground Clutter drop every time.

I’m gonna cross my fingers that this gets patched next Tuesday, but it really, really lessened my enjoyment of Week 1 Ulduar last night.
