In WotLK will there be any balance to the classes. Example the Frost Mage, according to the original WotLK data shows that Frost mages are 4k DPS less then all classes and specs in raids and upto 6k DPS behind Fire Mages. Are Frost Mages going to remain useless in PVE during WotLK?
yes, because they’re still really good at PVP

They didn’t rebalance classic or crusade so don’t suddenly ask for it or expect it for wrath.

Ive played a mage since BC launch and I see no reason why frost should be boosted in DPS, They are great in PVP and thats ok with me.

Frost I believe gets buffed at the end so maybe it’s in on launch?
Like they made it so deep freeze hits bosses really hard.
Some people believe that every spec of every class should be S-tier and the world is perfect and evil doesn’t exist and we can all have cake and eat it too.
Frost mage is not a PvE spec. Its entire kit is around shatter, which you can’t do to bosses.

Throughout Classic and TBC Frost Mages being the best PvE spec was only true up until when AQ released. Ever since AQ they’re now only good for leveling and PvP and there’s nothing wrong with that, many classes have a spec that’s considered a PvP spec.
In WotLK Frost Mages are still good for leveling and PvP but in PvE Arcane outclasses it for Naxx and Fire outclasses both in Ulduar.
Every spec has their strengths and weaknesses, Frost is better at PvP than Fire and Arcane, Arcane is better at PvE than Frost for Naxx and Fire is the better PvE spec after Naxx.
Fire can be good in PvP but it’s more of a glass cannon spec.

Yes because they are in a strong pvp place. THAT is their balance.

You get fingers of frost procs in wotlk.
You get deep freeze that works on bosses since they are immune to stuns they take an insane amount of damage from deep freeze.
You get brain freeze procs also.
Why would you want to play a frost mage in pve??? Its literally frostbolt spam

You’re absolutely right. Let’s have ice lance one shot all NPC’s, and players while we are at it.
Ice Lance should hit every target within 100 yards of the target dealing 100k damage to enemies and providing 1000 attack/spellpower to allies.
This is the most balanced way to approch Mage.

You don’t want us doing PVE levels of damage in PVP, believe me when I say balancing all the specs to play in PVE or PVP is a big mistake.
Its not practical here in “Classic” because so many spec’s lack the tools to be competitive in in the PVP setting while instead they are setup for PVE. It was done by design and making a PVP spec godly in PVE also is horrible because of how it almost always turns out.
I remember starting in MoP and Frost was exclusively the PVP spec and Fire was the PVE spec.
