Refusing to add RDF is sheer insanity.
It is impossible to do dungeons from 12-60 without someone boosting you through them.
Literally NO ONE wants to go to the hassle of running to dungeons or spending hours trying to find people who want to do them at the appropriate level.
Especially on Oceanic realms.
The only PVE realm for Oceania is dead unless you are Alliance.
And even with 800+ Horde players there is NO ONE to do dungeons with.
Please Blizzard.
Don’t screw over the casual playerbase with your misguided notions of ‘Community’.
The community you speak of doesn’t exist in this version of WoW and no matter how difficult you make doing dungeons while you level that ain’t gonna change.
Ever.
Ever since I started playing on TBC Classic I’ve only managed to do RFC twice and once I was the tank and we even had no healers.
The community isn’t their actual reasoning, it’s the crutch they fell on - right place at the right time. Their ACTUAL reasoning is to just sell more level 70 boosts - the Dungeon Finder will negatively affect those sales, and Blizzard can’t give up on easy money.
They’re doing it to sell boosts, no other reason. You cannot logically say you’re against RDF for the classic community while selling boosts and allowing boosting for 2 expansions and allowing GDKP’s to run free.
Its interesting that the design decisions for LFD and other components of Wrath are falling to someone who apparently never even played it.
I mean really - no race changes, no LFD, potential delays in raid release… those are design decisions for the demographic that wants retail but with a classic skin on it. Wrath had warts on it, for good and bad. /shrug
Leveling is a joke in WOTLK even without doing dungeons; EXP requirements are nerfed even further and class power is buffed even further to the point where every class can just blast through questing. You can go 1-70 in like 2 days /played.
But go on, keep coming up with more and more insane conspiracy theories about why blizzard is dumb and evil and the game is going to die without your anti-social retail feature
I guess I hallucinated all the dungeons I’ve done so far on my 43 priest in the past few weeks.
Your problem is with realm population, not “uhhhh people don’t want to do dungeons because it’s too hard :(((”
cross-realm LFD is a band aid on realm population issues, not a true solution. I’d rather not sacrifice community and socialization in a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER game, just to please some idiots who refuse to transfer off of dead servers.
The difficulty of said dungeon is not the problem, nor has it ever been the problem. The problem plaguing most groups (especially those of lower level) is the long and arduous process of actually either finding a group, or forming one yourself. THAT problem is not solely a result of server populations - it’s also a result of the majority of players wanting to take the easier route to level up to their goal - boosting.
I’m curious… do your keyboard keys stop functioning whenever you enter a dungeon through the Dungeon Finder? Oh, no you say? Then, realistically, you can do the EXACT same thing you are telling others to do - YOU can start the conversation. “But I’ll never see them again, so it’s pointless.” There’s just a few things to keep in mind:
Currently, TBC Classic has a FRACTION of the players we had throughout the original TBC and Lich King. This can be attributed to whatever you’d like to blame, but the reality is that back in 2007-2010, we only had ONE game - today, we have several, which has effectively spread the player-base thin
In the original Dungeon Finder experience, our battlegroups consisted of roughly 15-20 different servers each. Today, our NA/Oceania region has about that many with active characters in general. So, we have a PHENOMENAL chance of grouping with the same player several times throughout our levelling
Our so-called “community” has been dead for YEARS - this is NOT a result of LFD, that’s just a stupid assumption so that you don’t have to actually think. “Then why did players start leaving the game?” BECAUSE IT’S THE EXACT SAME THING EVERY EXPANSION - we level up, do some dungeons/heroics and clear the raids; rinse and repeat. I believe the definition of insanity sums that argument up nicely
Oh, but wait, what about socialization?! Great question! What’s the true extent for the majority of players today? Scanning through LFG Chat, messaging the group leader “inv” because apparently we can’t fully spell out words anymore, no time for that nonsense. A quick invite goes out, and we hear people asking for summons, and if we’re lucky, we may just hear the Paladin offering up our choice of buffs. I’d love to see some proof showing otherwise.
Yep, we’re idiots - some of us advocating for those servers because why should players be forced off their chosen realm because Blizzard wants to remove an integral component to the next expansion, how dare we. We’re idiots because we want the Classic versions to remain faithful to the original idea behind their releases. Stay classy, friend.
It’s true, though. It’s insanely obvious that the implementation of the Dungeon Finder tool would directly affect their bottom line - it’s not rocket science.
From what I’ve seen, the only levels affected by an EXP nerf in Lich King were 60-70, with an average of a 30% overall reduction per level. This, as I’m sure you’re aware, leaves out 1-60. Furthermore, a reduction in EXP required to reach level 70 is irrelevant when they’re selling boosts, which IS a complete decision based on a business perspective where they see things through little green symbols that resemble and S with a line through it, perhaps you’ve heard of it?
I’d be curious to see a source on that one.
In this case, yes, Blizzard IS dumb - Blizzard is acting in the best interest of their bottom line and various shareholders. As we’ve pointed out several times before, there’s not much profit in the Classic versions of the game outside of subscriptions which has already been decreasing since early into Classic WoW’s lifespan for one reason or another. The Dungeon Finder would erase both the need for Level 70 Boosts AND all those “WTS Slave Pens boost” advertisements, which in turn affects their subscription income because companies will not continue to pay for subscriptions if players aren’t paying them for their services.
Race Change was available as of October 27, 2009
Faction Change was available as of September 17, 2009 (EU, NA players received it September 2, 2009)
Why would a company neglect these two features that are guaranteed to provide an almost-passive income? Oh, right, because they’re dumb and they have no idea how to actually handle this game.
And you anti LFD people always spam the same thing.
“Oh no think of the impact it would have on the community”.
If your ‘community’ members are so easily swayed by LFD then it just goes to show how little anyone really cares about the community.
It’s a tool for convenience to help out people who don’t have the time to spend hours trying to find groups for dungeons and people on low population realms.
LFD doesn’t stop people socializing.
It’s people not wanting to socialize that stops that.
And that’s on them,not LFD.
And I dunno about you but when it comes to Oceanic realms there is only ONE non pvp realm.
So I dunno where I’m supposed to transfer to.
Cause on Pvp realms it’s stick to dungeons and hope you don’t get ganked on the way there or don’t go into contested territories.
And America realms are out of the question because my latency takes a huge nosedive and I frequently get disconnected when I try play on them.
I don’t care how efficient you are with lvling no way in a miilion years is 1-70 2 days /played. Even with boostings xp per hour you’re not hitting 70 until closer to 7 days /played.
I’m on benediction and just leveled a pally (61 atm).
The only dungeons being spammed at my level were boosts. So there goes your population narrative.
Some people hate questing, especially when it’s the 100th time doing them. Dungeon finder helped break up the monotony every few levels.
Get to 10 via hyperspawn grind in Teldrassil; Deadmines to 18, Stockades to 25, SM to 30, Mara to 45, Strath to 58, Slave Pens to 70 (there might be another boost using AC or MT though).
I’d 100% need proof to even come close to believing it. Maybe if you have a 70 killing everything in every dungeon with you solo on your way up. But even then isn’t there a limit to how many you can enter in 24 hours? 2 days is no where near realistic.
I don’t know about you but that definitely is not realistic. Maybe you’re a well known streamer or have a ton of friends to kill tagged mobs but 99% of the player pop does not. Using 2 days as a baseline like everyone can do it is funny at best.
I mean 2 days /played, as stated before. Getting to 70 in 2 days is very unrealistic for the majority of the population. I urge you to make a new char and quest like you don’t have exact routes to take. Get in line with boosting. You might be surprised how long it takes,
