Worth the Plunder?

I was able to find a friend who is a literal god at Plunder Storm and honestly if I had to rate the game I would give it a solid 3/10. The game is only fun so long as you have a buddy to carry you but thats about it, if you dont then I wouldn’t wish this miserable experience on my worst enemy and if you can deal with the sweaty pvpers who are the worst among us, god help and protect you you poor sweet angel.

It has good groundwork for being a fun pve game but the pvp community just saps ALL of the fun form the game. CC’s last WAY too long and being comboed by two people into knock back, into a silence, into a stun, into another stun and in between losing ALL of your HP in what would amount to being ganked by a rogue.

I would realistically say that PvP rewards should only drop 1 pack of plunder for PvP kills and you get MORE gold from PvE things but I know the pvp community would do what they are known to do and harass men until my opinion changes.

I truly have never HATED playing a game mode blizzard put out but locking pve rewards by a strong pvp based experience just so that players are forced to suffer through a PvP experience is honestly toxic and something that should be avoided in the future at all costs.

It has always existed. Like, they’ve had exclusive seasonal pvp rewards forever.

If anything, Plunderstorm is PVP-lite since a lot of us avoided PVP the entire grind.

And while I’m not a fan myself, the grind was waaaaay better than it would have been if it would have required us to do actual WoW PVP.

But overall, I agree. I would prefer that they not put such high quality/unique rewards behind PVP only events.

Except it really hasn’t, exclusive pvp rewards yes but this is the first game mode blizzard has put out where it gives a TINY aamount of hope that pve could be accomplished and then you realize that you have to deal with the pvp community who will chase you through an entire map just to kill you because “Teehee pvp!”

ROFL what? Is this a troll thread?

You sign up for pvp then complain there’s pvp. Yep, troll thread.

As a game mode, I wouldn’t say it’s the most exciting feature for someone like me who doesn’t enjoy pvp. However, you can make your own fun out of it. After I collect a good chunk of plunder, I like to see how far I can run into the storm before killing myself.

Yeah its an asbolute blast fighting a mob and THEN SUDDENLY two people jump you from 500 yards away and throw traps down and hit you repeatedly with the stun tornado while leaving you no way to defend yourself cause the odds didn’t favor you and you have 1 rank 1 ability

I didn’t sign up for pvp, nothing i’ve ever done has ANY involvement in pvp, you just seem like a bad troll saying that i’m trolling because I don’t look at this game mode wiht the same kind of rose tinted glasses someone like you might, I would also question your morals and ethics. Which is sad because tauren are supposed to be the best kind of people… do better

If you did Plunderstorm then yes you signed up for pvp.

This seems like an appropriate thread to ask.

Is the pirate get up awesome enough to go though this game mode? Anyone post a screen shot of their pirate jacket?

I don’t think anyone can answer that. All comes down to what you like.

But I will leave this here if it helps you decide:

I burned through the renown grind fast bc I have heard musings from pvp’ers that once they finish the renown, a lot of them are going to be playing solely to grief others early in matches. That coupled with queue timers getting longer down the road, I just wanted to be done with it.

Yeah I decided to get it over with early too because I had a feeling the queue times would be longer as more and more people hit renown 40.

tyty!

This is a tough one. I honestly think I may regret not getting that jacket.

I’m like 30% finished with a colossal pyramid in shrouded. I may need to put a pin in it for this.

decisions, decisions.

I think you’re being too harsh.

Obviously battle royale modes are not for everyone. Hell I’m one of the people who has no interest in playing most battle royale games. I don’t play Fortnite, PUBG, Warzone or any of the other Battle Royale games out there right now.

But I feel like lack of interest in the mode shouldn’t factor into scoring.

Is the game mode fun to play? Yes*
Is the performance of the mode acceptable? Yes*
Is the mode unique enough to stand out on its own? Yes.
Are the rewards worth doing the renown grind? Yes*

Personally, even though I have no interest in battle royale games, I’d give Plunderstorm an 8/10. And the only reason I’m docking points at all is because it’s a limited time mode and not a permanent feature. If it was a permanent feature it would get a 9/10.

PS: The * beside each of those yes answers is because your experience is going to vary depending on how your games play out, your own personal opinion on the rewards and your own rig and how it handles a 60 player FFA game.

Well, I was also pointing out that at least one those recolors will probably be coming to the TP so if you don’t feel like doing the grind, there might be other options in the future.

But you are taking a risk that those recolors are for different seasons of Plunderstorm

I have to admit, I really like that Horde red outfit. Love wearing red on alliance.

No I didn’t, I signed up to kill mobs and get abilities thats it. Then they had to tickle the PvE rewards for dealing with pvp like a worm on a hook

Off topic: while I was trying to get my new alt the winner’s shirt in Trial of Style, I built them a “Faction Pride” mog around the Horde tabard that can be worn on the Alliance.

You would be surprised at how many times I came in second place.

Yeah you did. It says right on the character creation screen that the first objective of Plunderstorm is to be the last one standing. The second objective says kill creatures and enemies.

Right under the word “Plunderstorm” it says “battle royale.

Kinda like saying that you got on roller coaster and didn’t sign up to do the “big drop.” - It’s part of the ride.

Yeah I… don’t get the argument that “This isn’t what I signed up for.” because it’s literally what you signed up for.

It isn’t like when you get accidentally flagged because you tagged an NPC by mistake and then you get ganked or you flew over an area that flagged you without paying attention and got ganked. You have to willingly choose to play this game mode.
