Worth taking DP over INQ for M+?

I recently returned to WoW and while catching up on gear and grinds and stuff, before it was worth bothering with sims, I ran DP.

I really enjoyed it. With the free Divine Storm proc trait and Lucid Dreams minor trait it felt awesome doing back to back to back Divine Storms.

Even on single target it always felt cool when I’d get lucky and proc more than average.

I find Inquisition to be uninteresting and I miss jumping right into the pull without the extra set up.

But I sim almost 2k dps higher with INQ over DP and since I started sim’ing I’ve only used INQ because of this.

Currently I’m at 37.7k with DP and 39.5k with INQ.

Is anyone else running DP over INQ despite what the sim suggests?

To people who’s played around with each talent a bit more than I have, how’s your experience?

INQ smooths out the rotation with the added haste. I like that. What I don’t like is how I have to keep it up and how I can’t just jump into the DEEPS! Once it’s rolling though, I love it.

DP, feels good all the time. Free stuff feels good. Haha INQ really needs to be replaced with something actually fun to press. Maybe an actual attack that THEN buffs us? Something at least.

Also keep in mind I go for fun over everything. DPS is great and all but unless I’m going for progression it really doesn’t matter all that much.

I run DP in dungeons and INQ in raids. Reason: once I get INQ rolling on a boss fight I can keep it up and enjoy what I love about the ability. Mainly, faster smoother rotation.

In dungeons, DP storms are awesome.

Cheers.

What the guy above me said.

Also, sims are assuming a perfect rotation. Human error in the rotation will bring them overall very close in numerical value. Play what you enjoy.

Why can’t they just make inquisition also make us explode in light causing some aoe damage when we cast it…

I don’t like Inquisition in M+. It’s nice in sustained combat and I always take it in raids, but when you’re jumping in and out of combat it loses a lot of value and just doesn’t feel good.

Plus there is nothing that feels better than popping Wings + Blood on a big pull and then getting chain procs from DP and EP. Oh my.

(Of course then I usually die from pulling aggro, but it’s totally worth it)

Inq for highest dmg but all 3 are viable especially in m+

for simplicity go dp, for damage and complex game play go inq. once u get used to inq, u will hate dp. there are so many rng already in ret gameplay, u will hate to add one more.

Inquisition typically sims higher than Divine Purpose, even in M+ (dungeon slice). One could argue that DP might be better on trash weeks, and you’d want to take Inq on boss weeks.

After hating Inq for a good chunk of BFA, I finally decided to stick with it and grew to enjoy it. Ultimately, the talents in that row are close enough that you can play what you enjoy, with minimal impact to your DPS.

Divine Purpose basically makes us like Enhancement shamans. When we get those procs we are super powerful. When we get drought the gameplays becomes so slowz lolz

If DP proc’d as often as Stormbringer does, it’d be our best talent. Stormbringer is way more feast than it is famine.

Play what you want friend, I’m 447 and rarely lose overall damage to any other class on M+
I love the feel of Divine Purpose and that plus Visions of perfection are just amazing together

Question: you guys that tend to favor Inq over DP, also run Exec Sent?

I tend to PvP over PvE and I’ve found ES to be really good as it gives us some ranged versatility. But what you guys think?

Cheers

I liked ES sentence a lot in PVP before they nerfed it. It’s basically a TV with a 20 yard range, which can be quite handy when being kited. ES + Inq is a great way to get some big TVs in. Looking at the arena builds 2200+, it is currently the go to talent in that row.

For me, from a flavor perspective, I like inquisition. It feels like old school paladin and maintaining buffs/blessings. So, from that aspect alone, I dig the added maintenance. I used to run with Divine Purpose because that also feels like a holy warrior - receiving blessings of power seemingly at random for their devotion to the Light and their righteous zealotry.

In fact, I’ve found the Ret’s 100 talent row feels great and all the choices - to me - seem to be viable or at least change the game play enough to make a noticeable difference. This pleases me. Greatly.

(Actually, same with Prot!)
