Worth returning?

How is Shadowlands in 2022? I stopped playing a few months into the release of Shadowlands. I liked the Covennts, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the chores or being pigeon-holed into a certain selection.

Is it easy to jump back in? Will I be too far behind to catch up?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

I quit a mo th after shadowlands and came back about 2 weeks ago. I’m actually having a lot more fun now than then. I’m already caught up on renown. Have 2 legendaries. Working my way up the pvp ladder slowly. Lots to do. I don’t regret coming back but I will say the player’s is lower than it was. Which is pretty normal for being late into an expansion.

The issues with a lot of the ease of catchup features that have been added, is that they require you to do the full grind once. Some of this is getting better with 9.2 when that comes out, but as of right now you still need 1 toon to get renown 80 in 1 covenant before most of the skips unlocks.

there is alot of catch up stuff for ya its not worth it if you are caught up already. it wouldnt take you long to catch up for the new patch when it releases.

You can only post here with a sub right?

If you’ve got a sub give it a go mate!

Personally I quit week 3 of 9.1 had 5 months off and I’m really enjoying myself currently

Good time to tie up some loose ends for 9.2

Yeah, I subbed for WoW Classic SoM, but it’s just not my thing anymore. I’m a bit too casual for that commitment.

Yeah, I’ll reinstall and give it a go. What should my main catchup priorities be? MMOs can be overwhelming and very hard to come back to.

Nope wait for 10.0. 9.2 is some kinda Devs as the gods Mary sue ego stroking moment.

If you play the game the way I do, it’s worth returning.

I was playing on my gnome and suddenly realized it’s cloudy and rains in SW. It was like a new game

The same it was in 2021. Until 9.2 releases then it’s just the same ol’ thing.

It’s ironic that up until this last patch we’ve never had storms or wind in Stormwind. Who named this city again?

You got a point there. Like saying it always rains in the plains of Spain. Uh huh…semi arid.

Maybe they meant upwind of the storm?

Obviously in lore there actually is regular weather. But it’s funny that the game took forever to do that.

Silvermoon is another odd one. Everything is sun themed with red and gold. No moons or silver in sight.

The dwarves at least have good naming sense. Ironforge is pretty spot on. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You are still going to have to do a covenant, but you can freely switch between them. Though you will have to farm the renown on each that you intend to use. Up side, you can start at 40 after you max one and you can get renown from doing dungeons, raids, world bosses, torgast, and daily cache.

If you decide to blow off the storyline, you can still max your renown, but you will have to do a little to unlock Korthia.

Torgast is now unlimited, so farm at your leisure. Legendaries as a result are not difficult to assemble.

One of the best things about games like Skyrim is the weather variety. But, i get that at times it can be a huge disadvantage. But then again I like blizzard arathi.

Maybe a toggle?

Easy to jump back in if you aren’t trying to get to 250 quickly. Like, if you just want to have fun with less restrictive systems then yeah.

Just do everything, but not Shadowlands.

9.1.5 turned it into a decent expansion to play solo. A lot of collectibles to work on it you like world content and building up covenants. No reason to do anything more than callings and Korthia.

It’s the most casual friendly this game has ever felt, but it’s also the first time where most of the casual group content doesn’t feel like it has any reason to participate in.

If it is queueable it has no meaningful reward attached to it. Timewalking isn’t updated outside the initial release, gear outside of Korthia is at best just some low quality xmog recolors, reps themselves really don’t provide a ton. Even low level mythic+ dungeons don’t really have much to offer.

So catching up seems super simple. Getting into PUG groups tho… I can imagine that’s a nightmare if you’re just coming in. It’s not a friendly game to group in with strangers.

I guess it depends on your aims

Personally I’ve been back 6 weeks and I’ve focused on maxing my legendary and renown, getting ksm on my new 9.2 main and trying to gear as much as possible so I can be in the “front pack” out the gates for 9.2

Sitting at 246ilvl looking to get as close as I can to 250ilvl by patch end, I anticipate a 9.2 date announcement any day now really

Coming back to wow is usually a good idea between the x.2 and x.3 patches as the suggestions from the beta file cabinets are usually at least partly implemented…

Since we aren’t getting a 9.3 though… now is as good time as any… /shrug
