Worth playing again?

How are my fellow ED? I’ve been contemplating coming back. I started in MoP and played till Legion (a little off and on).

With classic news coming up on YouTube and twitch I’ve been missing this game. I just wanted to ask if I should just keep my backseat warm and cozy or finally step back in. I miss wpvp, but allegedly sharding has practically destroyed that? Other threads I’ve seen just consist of people leaving like I have as well. Nevertheless, instanced pvp in wow has always been enjoyable compared to other mmos imo, and I favor WoW Lore the most. My favorite thing about WoW has been how close and up-to-date our realm has always been and I’m curious if it’s still relatively the same.
Worth coming back or enjoying my backlogged games and ESO on the side?

Honestly. I came back because I missed it too. Been on server for 9 years. Was so excited to come back because I quit in WoD. Then I noticed everything was different and I hated it for sooo long. I contemplated quitting multiple times in the 30 days I had first bought because I hated how different everything was. Until I found an awesome guild with awesome people which helped me stay subscribed tbh. I have found a community again within the game that I enjoy and as long as this community is here, with my friends I will stay.

Whether or not you should subscribe is up to you but it is a different game. We have to adapt since we can’t change much with the game. Wpvp is not a giant Zerg fest usually unless there’s an incursion or weekly quest for free gear.

If you come back I wish you the best and hope you enjoy the game again because there’s still a lot to enjoy (:

I suggest doing some investigation of your own. Wowhead is probably a good resource to consider, although they’re unabashedly in Blizzard’s pocket. Here is a good video touching on some of WoW’s recent failings:

My perception is the game is not what it used to be, but it’s still worth playing. I also have a lot of faith in patch 8.2. I don’t think classic is going to be what people are anticipating nor did I play WoW then so can’t really touch on it much.

I’m not too concerned with classic as I am with Live. I just know it’s bringing that urge to play lol.
Ive heard people have been swayed both ways with BFA but if it’s still WoW with a FEW hiccups then I might be down to join again. I don’t have as much time to play anymore though so idk if it’s a huge grind… I would like to come back casually and then maybe start dedicating my time to it. I’ll investigate a bit more, I just wanted to hear your guys/gals thoughts on the current state.

If you’re time limited, this is probably a good expansion for you. There are many easy ways to gear right now. For example, you can acquire 370+ item level items from world quests. Emissaries can also reward 400 item level items. Really, with gearing being so easy, I feel this is likely where many more dedicated players find a problem.

There is not much to reach toward past gearing. WPvP has been destroyed, unless you’re into WPvP with random people from different realms with major lag. I do imagine rated PvP is the same, however. By that I mean, it is intact and fun.

That is a highly optimistic view on current WoW. Much has gone the way of blatant and insulting monetization compiled in timegating. Most of the most optimistic people I’ve spoken with are not happy right now. Many are worried this is the beginning of the end and I don’t think it’s an overestimate honestly.

Maybe wait till 8.2 and see what you think?

I’d say its worth it, would be even better if you rerolled horde though. Trust me ED is worth it if you swap.

The player activity is notably at its lowest since the xpac launch. A lot of people have taken a break and are waiting on the new patch. This wouldn’t be the best time to judge bfa, specially since you care about wpvp and sharding. I’d give it till 8.2; ED is a ghosttown at the moment.
