I decided to try out TBC and level a toon, is it even worth leveling from 1-70?
like how much time will it take on average to hit 70 and also will TBC even by in a healthy state by then? I’m already hearing about bots destroying the economy and a lot of people just getting reported/banned by them. just curious as someone whos currently lvl 24 if its worth it.
1-70 will take an average player around 7-11 days of playtime to get to 70 as the goal of the exp nerf TBC brings is to keep leveling to max level around the same time as it took to get to 60 in vanilla.
As far as it goes for “is it worth it” as in can you get in and play after 70; probably. Unless you only have 3 hours to play a week or something in which case no. T4 is easy raid content to do to where an average guild can full clear in week 1; normally a few bosses would take some time to get down, but it all falls over meaning getting into raid content after hitting 70 is easy.
As far as beyond T4 goes the attunement process is a bit of work and interest in it died off in Classic over time. Not gone, but the start of the expac is when everyone is cramming in to get in and do them. You might struggle a little to form groups for dungeons or group quests needed for them, but that’s about it. With nerfed heroics coming at some point this may be a non issue anyways.
As far as economy goes…I mean eh. TBC throws gold at you so yeah it’s expensive but manageable. I think a lot of the tourists have left as the open world doesn’t feel terrible anymore. Miners have it the worst apparently…I have not dedicated myself to farm herbs but I can find them without bots overrunning me. Thing about TBC is once you hit 70, get attuned, and get decked out in raid loot it’s mostly a raid logging expansion. You’ll get decent gold from raiding, doing some heroics until you don’t need em, and knocking out whatever dailies you do to where you can sustain yourself moderately well. Helps if you are willing to farm some of your own mats or find a good gold grind to just buy em.
YMMV based on class, experience, desire to level as fast/efficiently as possible, and/or if you’re working on professions while leveling or focus on that after you hit 70. Also, as much I personally dislike it, if you use a leveling guide that can make you more efficient as well. Some people also just play slower than others in the same way others play faster, which is why my higher end average exists. Like I’ve probably only taken closer to that timeframe on a warrior, whereas I level much more efficiently as a warlock (and obviously mages are undisputed kings of leveling speed). And I pretty much always work on professions while leveling.
But you basically said you got to 70 in roughly 6 days so I mean I’m really not that far off anyways, especially if you did not focus on professions or maybe went a simple gather route to sell what you got so you could make extra gold and then powerlevel a crafting prof. If you get into leveling crafting professions while playing it can take a significant bite out of your focus for leveling. You can definitely do it faster than what I stated, but I’m just trying to account for a more average player who is not laser focused on an end-game goal.
