Worst Melee Spec In the Game for PvP

Enhancement Shaman is either the worst melee spec in the game or in the running for it.

I used my previous level 60 boosts on a Warrior and Paladin and compared to them choosing Enhancement is just an act of self-harm.

The rotation, keeping track of procs, unconsolidated functionality of moves, cooldowns, plus busted totem mechanics.

I thought Elemental was bad…NO.

Enhancement, omg. And, after looking for some wisdom on YouTube, I find that it is the only ranked F tier melee spec for this XPac.

Here’s the list of Melee: DK, Warrior, Rogue, F-Druid, DH, Survival Hunter, Monk, Paladin.

Name one melee class you think Shaman can beat.

Even in PvE this class is simply a punishment.

My proposal is that Blizzard simply Delete Enhancement and make separate Lightning and Fire Specs for Elemental Shaman.

The alternative is the rest of you move on and choose different melee classes or spec Elemental or Resto because as long as Enhancement represents more than 1% of the active player base, you’re just rewarding Blizzard for this.

Spare me any of the white knighting. If you defend this, it’s simply because you haven’t played under other melee class seriously and your use to eating garbage. Even if PvP isn’t meaningful for you, you’ve got to know that this is just terrible class design.

And now, the biggest improvement is a reskinned asset of god only knows what for Ascendant.

That dude on the interview circuit who created Thrall should just kill him off at this point.

Well not a class/spec for everyone but i can tell you that ENH is currently really strong either in PvE or in PvP idc about streamers and youtubers ,

i win alot of 2v1 in skirm vs a ret and fury

asendance window is extremelly op

2x conterstrike totem with totemic recall , kinda oneshot a ret

stormweaver is busted , did a bg with 269 mil dps tonight and 100mil healing , i did take a screenshot of it.

tempest crit with totem of wrath + wolf + trinket can goes up to 2.8 mil hit single target

Pretty sure Ret is rated low right now, and DHs too with all of them rerolling Fury warriors.

I really like my experience with Fury Warrior so far. It’s feels like a different game when you have melee moves that don’t require tab tageting mixed with others and telegraphed moves like leap.

Holy crap…I’ve never thought to try this. I am excited to now though, lol

I thought all specs do 2x counterstrike in arena? You have too.

What’s the gimmick to your 2v1 victory spec? Blow all CDs at once on a single macro or something.

Idk about ret, mine hits really hard after they fixed almost all the bugs which gave it almost a 35% buff. Many dps abilites were not working correctly up until a day or two ago along with a mitigation bug.

What else is new?

I’m sure frost mages are slso complaining for some reason.

Probably all classes because of something in the new patch notes.

I enjoy the high APM action of which glowing ability to use in the short window of time I have before it goes away or I am massively losing out on DPS before a mob(s) dies.

The passage of time exists differently while playing an enhancement shaman, it is incredibly rewarding when you achieve harmony and rhythm.

General experience playing other melee is much less sophisticated and zug zug, brain sludge auto pilot in comparison.

It isn’t for everyone, I think they should keep the high stress, RNG whack-a-mole(s), mess of orderly chaos that it is. I honestly think they should make it a little more complicated, make the reward even more multiplicative DPS and utility-wise.

Pillar kite , root , use ascendance for ranged dps , heal yourself after each maelstrom spending , place totem on one side of the pillar and position yourself on the other side of pillar to protect your totems , use bulwark totem on game start to absorb opening , use astral shift after bulwark , your hp should stay at 100% at all time , if its 80% it means kite and heal yourself and stop dps , use capacitor totem to stun 2 people and get a free hex , use lasso to get away to go get healed

The tips for playing a good ENH in PvP is , you are not a melee , you are not a warrior , you have to plays like a healer , prioritize your healing , prioritize your positioning , Kite and root and do your damage when its safe to do your damage.

Root totem , Hex , Capacitor , Lasso , then finally thunderstorm those are vital to stay alive and kiting tool , if you play them well , its really hard for any other melee to reach you , everytime they reach you , ohhh lasso , ohhh rooted , ohhhh thunderstorm , you know when you thunderstorm a warrior he going to leap or charge so … thunderstorm and place capacitor at your feet , he come back BAM he stun , free hex , heal yourself .

ENH win in the long run because of Stormweaver , so spend , heal , spend heal , stay alive and you will win most matches,

If you try to play a warrior on ENH and just charge in the fight and zug zug zug DPS you will 100% loose.

At some point you have to melee.

And opponents won’t always simply come to you or give you free action to do what you want.

All that aside, the entire strategy you proposed seems better executed by Elemental or Resto.

You’re essentially saying that you’re not melee and proposing a ranged strategy.

half melee half caster , i do stormstrike and lava lash , but i prioritize spending maelstrom though lightning bolt and tempest , its all about spending your maelstrom and healing with stormweaver and again the situation i mentioned was for 2V1 strategy.

Of course 3s with a healer its different … but the scenario where you play 2s and you have no healer , you got to be super defensive.

If going melee means going in the middle of the arena VS an hunter or mage , i just won’t go there , it doesn’t worth.

I kept a good screenshots yesterday for a BG , 16 kill , 0 death , 270MIL damage , 150MIL healing.

im not Rank 1 , will never be , but ENH is not F tier in PvP , it’s just a false interpretation of the classes that people play them like a warrior and it will never works that way.

Noone said melee means running head first into an arrow. But, at some point you have to get in there to generate maelstrom right? You do have to hit targets within 5 yards for most of your damage?

I am just wondering why you wouldn’t be much better off as elemental in pvp as that would require no melee and you have the same defensive tree.

Or is it that Enhancement is a better ranged spec in arenas than Elemental because casting LB and tempest from Enhancement’s maelstrom mechanics is harder hitting and better than Elemental?

Regardless, it’s cool that you are an Enhancement Savant. I hit a run of arenas yesterday where I was winning all day in 2s where the 2x Counterstrike works at having them starters literally kill themselves while you add to it.

Fact remains my comment was worst melee spec in the game, and the rebuttable seems to be, the trick is not to play Enhancement as a Melee Spec. Ok, you got me.

How about this, what are you doing when you have no to 0 Maelstrom Gen?

Feral Lunge , IceStrike , Lava lash , Stormstrike then my maelstorm is up but i wouldn’t go for it if its dangerous in the middle of the map , and i wouldn’t go for it if my health bar isn’t full , i could just kite 5 seconds offheal and wait for wolf CDs to be up to then have maelstrom to spend.

When i put Counterstrike Totem trust me i want to fight in melee at MY SPOT this is MY WINDOW , yes the totem can be killed but you could place it by a pillar and just los a bit your totem stay in reach but not in reach to get it killed , also its 39 second cd , when a RET pop wing , a fury goes hard on you it break their burst on you or they kill themself,

When doomwind is up i want to fight in melee this is MY WINDOW , you just got to understand your window , when to melee and when to be a caster ,

When you have bulwark totem also a good window to melee , so basically for your melee window you need

Astral Shift (1min 30sec)
or
Bulwark Totem (3min)
or
Counterstrike totem (39sec)
or
Doomwind (1min)

Also Doomwind Window you want to be in melee , Stormstrike is our weakest ability to press , but during doomwind window is it our strongest ability to press , lava is good but when hot hand is there , if hot hand is not there i rather stormstrike for windfury damage and it generate usually for maelstrom,

Half melee , Half caster …

There is your mistake. I stopped reading here. You are playing the class wrong, don’t ever look to the side to see what others are doing. Every melee plays different, equipped with different tools and a distinct role.

You only have storm strike, lava lash and ice strike as melee abilities. You’re support, not a warrior that only tunnels you with dmg.

Realistically, this concept should apply to any class or spec you play in general. My main has been an Enhancement Shaman since the early days of Vanilla, and I never had what can be considered a “conventional” setup for my bars or even talents. Some people say it’s kind of awkward. I am assuming they go by guides for the class and never deviate from that. Using the guides is fine, but that’s really just to get you started. You have to adapt to your playstyle. My entire setup is for what suits me best in how I want to play the class. Is there room for improvement in both tuning on Blizzard’s end or on my end with refining how I manage the abilities? Probably, on both, yes … but the idea is to tailor it to make it work for you. When you get a comfortable setup, the class being supposedly “better” or “worse” during a specific patch or expansion seems more minimal than you might realize. There were a few times, that I didn’t even realize there were supposed issues people were complaining about with how the class was tuned, because of how I play the class, I never noticed. In the end, this all comes down to, if you like the class, work at how to be better with their abilities by adapting and improvising. Being good at a particular class or spec takes practice. It’s really as simple as that.

Thank you for this. While I hate playing with totems, I love 2x counterstrike totem.

For some reason a lot of other posters look down on it as if it’s some novice thing that doesn’t work. But, I will use it as long as people fall for it.

To an extent though, I do dislike that part of our dps is relying on our opponent to kill themselves.

Regardless, I use to main a rogue, then switched to Enhancement Shaman, and stop playing at cataclysm. Whatever Enhancement has become now is just something that I am not connecting with, so I may just give up trying.

It’s just very complicated, **it’s basically Elemental Shaman plus 4 more keybinds,**and that’s too much for me.

For a long time I have been playing Shaman because it’s my highest level character, and I have switched specs within it when I get bored of a particular spec. These days, I am finding that the only reason I play Shaman is that it would be inconvenient to start a new class (even booster) and gear it up.

That being said, the Warband system is new to me and certainly makes things more convenient.

I do like elemental shaman, but again, most of what we can do in PvP has gimped utility compared to other class.

I would say Ghost Wolf is our only exceptional class ability compared to others.

Also, I really hate totems, I liked them in Cataclysm when they took the GCD off and had a system for casting 4 at once.

When u master a class tier lists means nothing.

enhance is def alot harder to be good at then other classes.

But enhance has amazing utility that when used well can make up the low dps and squishyness. Its like if warrior didnt have its damage it would be useless.

If ur a enhance main u can usually surivive through tough times just by ur utility
