Worst Expansion Ever?

Idk I had literally nothing to do in WoD other than sit in my garrisons on alts. I actually ended up quitting for nearly two raid tiers and it’s the only time I’ve ever done so.

Bfa just started and I’m really looking forward to what’s coming in future patches. The real issue is the “I want it all right now” people. I’m not burnt out yet but I raid and do mythic plus which I understand isn’t really for everyone

I liked it up in here.

Complaints about the story are all over both the old and new forum. If you don’t know why people (especially Alliance and NE fans in particular) don’t like it, well I don’t know what to tell you. /shrug

And sorry, I can’t help but LMAO at the suggestion that “this is the best story telling WoW has ever done”. I mean, I just can’t take you seriously after a comment like that.

If I had 10 cents for every time I heard that the current xpac when it was current was the worse xpac ever, starting back with Cata, I would be rich by now. Know what when they release 9.0.1 and the next xpac it will be known as the worse xpac ever and when 10.0.1 is released that one will replace it too as the worse xpac ever.

Did you play during WoD? If you played during WoD you would not even be asking this silly question. WoD was worse by miles. BFA is actually decent.

The last 3 expansions aren’t even close to the previous expansions, not even close!

I played all through Wod. Wod was only bad because Ion abandoned the expansion half way through. BFA is really bad because of a laundry list of terrible probelms .
BFA is low effort, lazy and boring development .
BFA is garbage

Seeing how inept these devs are, I have no doubt that every expansion is just going to get worse and worse unless they decide to get rid of them.

I’ll just say that i logged on a heck of a lot more in WoD than I do in BfA.

Let’s start with vanilla. A bunch of jumbled, and rather lame stories of the zones, the blackrock stuff-meh, AQ out of nowhere-meh, Naxx-ok, guess it kind of continues WC3.

TBC-Go fight Illidan for…reasons. Lady is draining Outland-no particular reason. It’s safe to say TBC was awful as far story goes.

WotLK- they took one of the coolest villains of all time and made him a joke with daddy issues. They destroyed Arthas. The troll stuf was really good, everything else was awful.

Cata-from start to finish garbage.

MoP- it was actually pretty good with the Lorewalker stuff, but I think most people just felt really detached from it. Zero depth though, Jaina and Garrosh made sudden 180 turns out of nowhere.

WoD- Time traveling Orcs, as if that isn’t enough said. Both starting zone stories were decent at best, and the rest of the zones were pretty god awful. The Arakkoa stuff was okay, a little strange though. Awful dialogue all around.

Legion- Hit and miss. Some of the order halls were really good, others were god awful. None of the zones had any cohesion. We had to collect a bunch of titan relics to close a portal, just for the Legion to steal them back randomly, just to have Illidan open a portal to Argus anyway? Umm…k? The Argus stuff was good, but Sargeras humping the world was a bit off.

BfA- Multiple characters are given depth that has literally never been seen before in WoW. Up until now, it’s just random moments with pretty vague dialogue. You literally had to read between the lines and decide for yourself on so much. The alliance story is worthy of awards imo. The horde story is really good too. Sylvanas is acting exactly how she would if given the mantle of Warchief, I was worried after the Voljin funeral scene where she said “Who among you will help me avenge him” that Blizz was going to ruin Sylvanas, she would suddenly become happy go lucky Warchief.

I can see complaints that maybe the Alliance is putting up with way too much and being too pacified, but with the raid in 8.1 are they really?

The problem is, you and others don’t like the story because it actual tells a story and shows depth. You aren’t used to that. We’re used to lame Saturday morning cartoon worthy scenes with quick cringey dialogue.

I’ll still be waiting for you to explain why you don’t like it, and listen wholeheartedly, besides reasons like “because everyone else said”

If you say so… /shrug

The story problems have been rehashed to death already. I’m not going to reiterate every single point to you. Feel free to go back to the old forum and read the numerous threads on the various issues.

I have seen many posts, and the most I ever got out of it was over analyzing every little thing. Like, where have these people been for the last 14 years? Now they want to be a script critic?

WoD Sucked because they abandoned it mid development. People were complaining garrisons sucked well before launch. BfA has a myriad of issues but nothing that can’t be fixed and it’s clear as hell the devs want to fix them. WoD? Literally turned into “Just wait until the next expansion, it will be good”. And when a lame excuse of a patch is presented as full content, you have trouble. Even Tennan was racked with issues of too little being added too late.

I actually liked the zones for WoD, apart from Drustvar and Voldun, I cannot say the same for BFA.

I think garrisons could have been fleshed out better like a Fallout 4 create your own garrison and invite friends or even have a guild garrison replete with assaults on your base by anyone willing to attack it not just opposing faction.

no gear vendors and takes 199 2v2 wins to cap 10 weeks worth of conquest - meanwhile, capping 10 weeks of conquest in mop took 56 wins - yeah, dont feel like smashing my head into a wall playing even half that many 2v2 games when I can just log in to casually farm the 4-8 relevant WQ, anniversary bosses, and warfront content AND come out with a higher ilvl than I would have if I did grind out all that conquest.

WORST EXPANSION EVER?

You mean the hunt for Yuna’s lost beau who’s is pyrefly.

That’s the one! Never finished it. Played about an hour and stopped.

It had a catchy intro song I still have on my playlist

True. The FF series has always had good soundtracks. Nobuo Uematsu is a genius.
