Worst Dungeon this Expansion?

Surprisingly, I thought it would be Plaguefall, but as easy as Necrotic Wake is, there are just a lot of people that don’t seem to know how to perform simple mechanics. I’ve lost count at how many times a group has failed because a player didn’t turn the arrow around properly on the third boss.

It depends on the key level. General consensus as far as scaling goes, DOS or sanguine depths tend to be the most difficult for most groups, however in lower keys I would assume it would be dungeons with more personal responsibility (I.e your example of the arrow mechanic in necrotic wake) where as if the one guy who doesn’t know what to do keeps getting picked it’s a rip key no matter how good the group is

as long as we’re not talking aesthetic-wise, i think sanguine depths has been the hardest for me to find successful teams with. i’d say that’s my personal worst one

i do like the dungeon however, and i like that the boss fights are more involved/unique

Funnily enough I was in a 15 NW pug where the DPS didn’t kill the worms on the first boss resulting in a wipe.

All have ups and down. Find top, HOA and dos tightest on timer higher I go. But also depends heavily on dps competence.

Sanguine Depths is hell. Nerf the OP bosses? Just kidding. Let’s nerf the trash… again.

The Kaal nerf is nice, but not relevant to a warrior like me.

The ones that are bad are the ones where they actively deceive you with overtuned mechanics that look the same but change from one fight to the next. One example is SD, where the trash put white/yellow swirls on the ground that you should stay out of but are not too terrible. Then you get to Beryllia, where the same swirls one shot you.

PF sometimes confuses new people because there are tricky trash fights, especially with the bomb area, and pathing is a pain in some places.

But they all change from one kind of problem to another depending on if boss fights are long, or there are two trash mobs that put out horrible dots and people don’t interrupt them.

I know a person who hated Stitchflesh because the first about 5 times he got targeted with the hook and everyone yelled at him. Then he didn’t understand that the boss cycles back to the platform and you have to switch back to the add.

DOS and SD are on most people bad list because they don’t scale well as key levels go up, and they are annoyingly long while also being the hardest to time at higher levels. SD also has increasing difficulty structure - meaning the harder bosses and trash comes later, so you don’t know if you will time it till it’s too late.

SD on Tyrannical for sure as far as I’m concerned. Tarvold and Beryllia seem to require higher-than average DPS and healing to overcome. It’s a wipe and key death if Tyrannical Tarvold’s add doesn’t die quickly and/or the healer can’t keep up with Beryllia’s Endless Torment.

I too thought it would be plaguefall. The dots and diseases got to peoples head probably.

Necrotic wake I don’t think it’s tough per se, but I feel like the mechanics didn’t become more pronounced and deadly until higher keys if that makes sense? I’ll be honest, I never knew you could point the throw arrow towards other mobs, and in higher keys it’s a requirement because the throw can one shot.

Last boss always felt like a cake walk before, but in high keys I’m putting out way more aoe heals than I did in lower keys.

That said, SD still takes the throne for toughest dungeon of the expac so far.

I think that if someone is a player who doesn’t know where their interrupt button is, and struggles to avoid the bad, then pretty much every dungeon this season is the worst for them.

On the flip side, I love every dungeon this tier. The mechanics and challenge are awesome! Even if those damn PF tentacles hit boxes are weird… but I guess the tentacles are always bigger than you think. >.>

ToP and HoA for me. As someone said above, tight timers can be tough. I personally struggle in those dungeons more than others since I tend to be cautious (and slower than I know I should be) when I tank.

NW’s biggest problem is bugs. It makes it difficult because people need to learn if they’re likely to cause a bug-related issue. It happens between Stitchflesh’s room and Nalthor.

Mages can’t use blink to get away from fixate is one example. (Also they can’t blink on the gauntlet of Nalthor.)

Sometimes if a player dies in Stitchflesh’s room, they bring adds up from below.

Pride can get phased out if it pops while people can go to Nalthor.

I’ve had clean runs get to Stitchflesh’s room, then 1 or 2 dps die and in the next 5 minutes we rack up 25 deaths… before even getting another 2 or 3 packs handled.

Spires and NW. Only because i cant dummy proof the run.

I dont want to start a dungeon with a 10 min presentation on how to do everything for them to still screw it up.

I notice people are having harder times on HOA and DOS because of times. Just pull bigger.

Blizz has some blame in this for making the room broken af for Blink and Soulshape like mechanics. Granted, by now people should remember it’s broken and be ready to get in position anyway, but it is somewhat on Blizz that they haven’t fixed that room for blinking yet.

My vote is PF just because of all Blizz’s damn changes. The last boss has had at least three changes to tentacle animations/width/timing so right when I got used to one they changed it up on me. They finally seem to have a handle on that but now they’re adding plaguerocs back in that they’d removed! Oh, also the changes in slime tentacle placement based on difficulty of the dungeon.

None of these make the dungeon hard but it makes it incredibly annoying. I wish they’d just pick something and stick with it in that place.

Heh. Those are my favorite 2 dungeons because I feel like I know how to get through it without having to think too hard about pathing, and timing isn’t usually an issue if we’re not facepulling.

I’m sure it’s an experience issue on my behalf. I always feel like someone butt-pulls stuff in HoA as well, and then I’m sitting there thinking about adjustments to count … tick tock.

NW used to be hard, but once they tossed in the nerfs the whole dungeon become significantly easier to complete. It’s probably the 4th easiest dungeon after Mists, Halls, and Plaguefall.

I like all of them except De Other Side. I even like Sanguine Depths! Now, I know the pattern on the second boss and the only pain points of that dungeon for me are the two common skips, which I suck at. Hoping that the next seasonal affix won’t demand such specific routes. LOL

The key I got was 18 DoS, and considering these affixes… I’m skipping m+ this week.

NW is easy with a coordinated group however a nightmare for most PuGs. Most DPS just hits things. So asking them to pick up weapons and use it on the right time without comms or told in advance is a pain. TOP isn’t so bad except on Tyrannical which makes Gromchop annoying asf. The lich boss is super easy but has the most difficult trash in the dungeon. SD is just cancer no matter the week.

Depends how you define worst. For me the worst by far is Spires, because of the stupid taxi mechanic and the bugged final boss. All the bosses there are boring as hell too.
