I kinda wonder why this content keeps being renewed each season. Its just a dull pointless aoe farm they forgot to put rewards into beyond key fragments.

It’s an optional, boring way to get key fragments. I think there’s some achievements tied to them, too. I’ve partaken in them a few times, but you’re not missing much unless you’re gung-ho on maxing keys and whatnot.

“Pointless key fragment farm” - seriously? I don’t use the keys I get naturally (and I don’t do all the stuff that would get me the max either) but Grindy McWorldsoul existing is a thing for clearly obvious reasons to me, and guess what, I’m busy shushing letting people enjoy things.
What is the point of this? You don’t world soul? Is that it? Is this WoW’s version of the “I don’t watch TV” humblebrag or something?

I want things better for others beyond myself. Its that flicker of nobility I try desperately to squash.
I think the only way world soul memories could be made less appealing to me is if they were a PvP zone.
(I’m still eyeing the achievements for killing all the rares in mythic mode, but have already accepted it may not ever reach the top of my todo list)

Can you, and pretend I’m a particularly thick and dull three year old here - can you explain how your OP stems from or aids in wanting things better for others?
I mean some times a thing can just be a thing and doesn’t have to be super fancy. Some harder-core players with more grindy tendences might like more keys than the weeklies give, so here are world souls, for an additional source.
That it also doesn’t shine my shoes or make my mount sparkle isn’t a problem. That’s not why they are there. They are there for keys.
I guess I think you could have just framed this much more clearly and eloquently, like “Wasted opportunity” or something, instead of the “why is this even a thing at all” angle you pushed.
Of course my super casual friend.
Its content designed to invoke nostalgia for wow. Its grindy in the same way bfa islands are. It would of been trivial to add at the bare minimum cosmetic recolors to world souls referencing the events depicted.
As it is… its just lazy.

I came to this posting to see what was what. I tried them early in the expansion and got pwn’d so I quit and have not been back. I guess I should be fair and give it another try.
Disagree. It seems half done. I would rather see those souls as scenarios or outdoor mini delves that you play a story. The whole world event stuff is over done in this game. Maybe a gauntlet, the further you go, the more keys, or a fun minigame. Going in to a portal to just kill mobs for the sake of getting keys is not fun.

I didn’t find them fun so I don’t participate but if others like it - sure why not. Everyone has what they like or dislike.

They probably keep it around because there are some achievements linked to it and it’s easier to just keep it going than remove it entirely. They’re also one of the best valorstone farms (though few seem to be aware of this).

I find that they are sort of obtuse the few times I’ve dropped in. Wasn’t sure what I needed to do, very few (if any) other players to take on the bigger mobs and elites and then suddenly it ended and I had no idea what I had done or if I had achieved anything. Haven’t really gone back as I feel that these could’ve been designed a bit better? Given a bit of spice or something? I dunno, just wasn’t fun and seemed like additional grind on top of the other grinds. So not really worth it for me.
