I just rolled on this server. Everyone says that the balance is pretty even, however, I hear a lot of complaints about the Horde not participating/engaging in PvP as much as the Alliance. Is this true? I would like to know everyone’s thoughts. Thanks!
Last night Hurricane rolled through Orgrimmar with no resistance. We killed Thrall and held their Auction House / Bank hostage for 45+ minutes. No one formed up or organized to contest us, only a few hapless people who PvP flagged hoping to snipe a kill or two.
We generally make it a point not to block access to Blackrock Mountain because horde desperately need to raid and gear up and get with the program.

Definitely true! Seems to be a lot more neck-bearded zerg guilds on Alliance. I’d hold off judgement until phase 2 though

Had some good skirmishes in WPL last night, a lot more fun when it springs up organically.
Thinly veiled Horde bullying thread.
We have level 9s in dwarf only guilds doing roleplay events in BRM while Horde MC raids get mopped. It’s sad really.
Small horde raid was camping BRM last night. Didn’t catch the guild. Idk about city raids but I’ve seen a lot of raiding against smaller towns.
Massive scale WPVP is one of the worst ways to promote engagement. Nobody who is curious and considering engaging in WPVP is going to be like, “oh great let me throw myself at that 50-strong raid.”

Stopping people from being able to bank or auction in Orgrimmar is though. We got people to respond, just not enough. It’s layering that’s the problem, not our approach.
Your problem is honestly that you entered the city with 3 full raids. No Horde can contend with your massive swarm of people who have invested thousands of hours into this content. Zerg less, protoss more.

I haven’t seen any massive groups of Horde WPvPing like I’ve seen massive groups of Alliance, but I’ve run across smaller conflicts every single day of Classic, and at least half or more of those were instigated by the Horde holding a choke point or the entrance to a dungeon.
That said, I think there will be a LOT more interested in WPvP from both factions when there’s a tangible reward for PvPing like there is from PvEing or farming. And when there’s no more layering to escape from conflict with.
I know of several people right now on Horde side that are treating this as the time to prepare for WPvP in Phase 2, rather than going out to find fights now in Phase 1. Though I know just as many Horde players who are already going out and finding fights, just in smaller groups and not full multi-raid armies.

This server has tens of thousands of active players. If they can get rid of layering, the base state of Orgrimmar should have more then enough to contest us. Get a few more to hearth to defend and we’re easily outnumbered.

I think it’s impressive that you organized such a massive force, but maybe next time you should drop it on a couple forums a few days ahead of time and give big guilds a choice about whether they want to organize a defense. As a disorganized faction nobody can coordinate a defense against 120.

Final Boss has fielded multi-raid WPVP. Maybe some of you ought to apologize to them for past comments and ask them nicely to help out next time something like this happens?

I’m not singling out individuals, just pointing out how ironic it is that this community loves to dump on the “zerg guilds” up until a rival faction “zerg guild” is camping their bank and then it’s “Bu… but your guild is tooooo biiiig! How can we possibly contend with that? 1v1 me bro!”

I don’t care about your irony, edge lord Breiohny. Hurricane can zerg us if they want but if they want real resistance they should let some big guilds know ahead of time. That’s my entire stance on the issue.

Almost every time I’ve gone to BRM there was a small horde contingent camped near the entrance to spire. I guess Alliance is better when it comes to gathering 300 people to spam AoE and RP walk in formation across 8 zones but when it comes to small scale (read: actually fun) PvP, Horde dominates
