World PvP in a nutshell

Just tried it for the first time in months.

Literally, within 5 minutes of landing, I get attacked by an assassin rogue while I’m fighting an NPC.

Okay, great. He beat me. I go back to an area nearby and the same rogue is there. Okay great. He beat me again.

I try another spot.

I scope out the area. Nobody around. Within moments of engaging the NPC, two shamans fly down from the sky and beat me to a pulp again.

Summary? Don’t bother with world pvp unless you are a stealther or in a larger group. And good luck trying to do anything because you’ll die to a stealther or someone will drop on your head from high in the sky.

Lucky for me I haven’t been corpse camped yet. Perhaps we should be able to rez at the gy when we die in wpvp to prevent that?

The real problem with WPvP (Other than there not being much of any) is the amount of buffs people can use to disguise their mediocrity. If you can’t get the buffs - you lose.

But yeah - it’s also an AOE group fest.

I just use Epics for my WPvP (1v1) fix… because unless PvP servers come back - WPvP will never be the same again. It’s one of the worst decisions they ever made.

i legit miss world pvp in BFA and even shadowlands had some epic moments too.

im not sure what happened in DF but i just havent done very much of it. i 1v2d a garbage mage/rogue who tried to gank me and thats the only thing i remember all xpac cuz all other times the world seemed empty af???

BFA had those insanely epic battle in the naz bridge and SL i remember our community had the most insanely epic world pvp battle in korthia

Not only that, bloody tokens are a bit of a pain to get this late in the expansion. You have to sit around waiting for war chests or try to find real enemy players that are not stealthers. And even if you find those players and kill them, the amount of tokens you get is not worth it. This late in the expansion they should increase the amounts substantially.

Oh, and reduce wpvp quests and war chest drops to a single zone each week so more players congregate in the area.

Took 6 ppl, 2 at least on coms, to kill a HDH with world buffs who was camping a pvp world quest slaughtering everyone.

Funny you bring that up.

I was just thinking, another issue beyond the obvious stuff discussed is how some classes get tank and heal specs that are nearly impossible to kill. It gives them massive advantage over a dps spec.

Just saw a blood DK with about 5 million health…

In other words, wpvp had no effort put into it. Simply adding a random wpvp quest and war chest in a zone doesn’t mean much.

Purely a git gud situation.

Also a git buffs and teammates situation. Seeking enemies in wpvp or just being found alone risks the possibility of a world-buffed enemy, team of enemies, or world-buffed team of enemies finding you. Its WORLD pvp, so getting attacked by a whole guild is possible, it was never expected to be “fair” or protected from creative use of tools avaliable, including outnumbering your opponent or choosing a strong 1vs1 spec.

Yea, nobody is arguing about that. But some poor design decisions go way beyond that.

Flying mounts give the attacker way to much of an advantage. Are you going to scan the air above you non stop while engaged with enemies (npcs or players). I highly doubt it.

And don’t get me going on stealthers, tanks, and some healing classes. They were not designed with world pvp in mind. Tanks and healers you can sort of avoid (other than blood DK), but stealthers? Yea, please don’t try to argue about fairness the way stealth works in this game.

I’ve said it a million times. World PvP in any game can’t work when there are stealth classes unless there are easy ways to counter that stealth.

Or here’s an idea. When I’m engaged with a “quest” mob in world pvp, I can see the stealthers in the vicinity of that quest mob. Whatever the solution is, Blizzard is not up to the task. So expect more lame war chests and small generic pvp related quests. And also expect people to avoid it once they are done getting the gear they need from wpvp. Very few do it for fun.

^^ So much misinformation in this post. No wonder you’re having such a hard time with world pvp.

This is the only thing you’ve said that I don’t think is completely crazy.

Playing with and against stealth classes is fun when you have some kind of actual cat and mouse game between players. Stealth in WoW is just a really shallow, uninteresting and overpowered mechanic that isn’t even an integral part of how any of the classes who have it play. It’s just a cherry on top of also being as equally formidable in a direct fight than the classes who don’t have access to it.

Anyway, wpvp is fine and this is clearly just a vent thread from someone who’s upset they got ganked in war mode.

If seeing players that are in stealth is a priority Blizzard gave us Havoc DH.

Many specs would likely struggle Vs Rogues in 1v1 combat if they could see stealthed players. Turns out having strong defensives, many CCs you can do damage into, slows, silences, mortal strike, teliportation, and disarm makes for a strong pvp spec.

What you’ve pointed up about world PVP is likely not news to the majority of players, even those of us who refuse to do anything that so much as reminds us of PVP. Play what you play and enjoy it to the best of your ability because that portion of the game is literally a thing I will have nothing to do with. Thus, more for you! YAY! Personally, there isn’t a reward I can imagine worth giving middle aged High School bullies a hit of nostalgia at the expense of my own self esteem, but I do genuinely feel that you should do you and play the Wow YOU enjoy. I certainly will. Peace.
