Also one thing that can’t be overstated is exactly how much pressure on open world farming high consume prices create. Should the level 55 rogue trying to farm quest mobs/possibly consumes for the future in Winterspring never be allowed to get a mob tag around me because I want to sell firewaters? Is that an ideal way for this game to be played?
Cause that’s sadly what the game has become.
I’d rather not have to play the game like this to be able to use a flask every week, but I guess not allowing other people to play because of the lack of oversight and changes from developers forces you to play the game like this, which in tandum creates a negative experience for the people you have to do this to so that you can farm 500g+ every week to play this game.
It’s actually insane that I don’t buy gold under these specific parameters that you’re giving us, and instead spend hours every week playing the game and farming gold when it’s a complete waste of my time.
I’d just really enjoy playing this game instead of a different game, but because of the rampant botting and lotus fly hacking that exists on anniversary realms I don’t think that will be an option long term because I’m getting tired of how much time it takes to afford a single black lotus every single week. This is actually the least amount of fun I’ve had playing this game since I came back to it.
Would love to actually see a change that makes the game playable for someone like myself. Similar to how several thousands of other people are requesting the same thing.
How about you Devs come play this game with us instead of prioritizing SoD phase 12, so you can better understand the circumstances you’re allowing your player base to experience. Because apparently the information being provided to you from the playerbase is just not enough information for you to be able to make a change.

I think it is more of a server age/progression type thing as more and more people hit max level the higher level zones are going to get more crowded. But more and more raiders will be geared past the content over time as well, so it will calm down eventually.
But this would only be a problem if you were walking with the pack instead of racing ahead or hanging back at your own pace.
If you need a black lotus every week to raid with your guild some of your guild mates should be there to help you out, if you are trying to do everything yourself well… welcome to classic massive multiplayer online role play gaming?
Content is being downed regularly, it is not impossible, maybe you are worried you will look foolish without extra buffs or something but don’t worry, no one is watching you that closely as long as things go well and they mostly go well because the gap between can’t clear the content and cleared the content easily is pretty narrow.
OR you’re just here to imply that gold needs to be bought. I hear tell of bought accounts being lost pretty rapidly lately.
“Vanilla” never reaches a point where the hot resources are not heavily farmed, it just adds new ones.
Example
Warriors will always want R.O.I.D.S, Elixir of the Mongoose, Juju Power, Juju Might/Winterfall Firewater, Elemental Sharpening Stones, Mighty Rage Potions, Goblin Sapper Charges, Limited Invulnerability Potions and then for tanks you add Flask of the Titans , Greater Stoneshield Potions and the various magic resistance potions.
To your point, I think with good gear you could skip most of these and it would be fine. They aren’t the main thing that lets a team beat an encounter or even clear the raid. Just clearing the content and handing out purples isn’t enough for Classic players though it seems.
The game isn’t designed for every player who wants to raid to come with every possible buff and consumable for their class. In addition to that, Vanilla allows you to use any consumable that doesn’t have a literal duplicate effect.
If you greatly buffed the number of mobs/resources it seems like it would only make the botting problem worse as they can do things that players can’t. I’m also pretty sure that a lot of people “raid log” and so they aren’t going to be out there gathering the stuff in any case - they either have cracked the code on making gold with alts or are buying gold.
I hate the idea of putting the major consumables on a vendor with unlimited quantity, but it might be better than buffing spawn rates.
you both have to learn to share.
you can raid without a flask, he can level without that quest.
ITT: People defending that an overbloated server has enough resources for everyone.
Vanilla maps were never made for stupid megaservers. Ever.
Layers make resources worse because even though Black Lotus is on a long timer, people can hop layers every 10 minutes to keep scoping.
Black Lotus/Firewater/etc is not just the cause of bots. Every thread I see (not counting this one, different subject) feel like its only one source causing the problem, when its A LOT of sources creating the whole.
- Botters, both on foot and map hacking.
- Gold Farmers where 8-10+ hour days is their job to so do.
- Regular folks just trying to farm consumables.
- Gold Buyers being able to slurp up a lot at once from the market.
- Devs who could care less of what their lack of care has created.

I’m tracking your points, except this one.
Any solution to this means a non-trivial change to the game with big tradeoffs. It also isn’t the Devs fault that there is huge player-created demand for resources that were meant to be special in the first place.

embrace the scarcity. it makes for a more dynamic gameplay.
I’d like spiritual attunement and a taunt for paladins. Guess what? Ain’t happening.
Deal with the game with the tools you have.

If that’s the case, and I’m being genuine here, consider giving up on Anniversary and come over to Grobbulus. We have maybe 100 (at most) active players on the server across both factions but both factions have raiding guilds. Alliance kills KT when we get enough people showing up and clears the other raids when we don’t. I think Horde are in the BWL/AQ40 range.
What’s nice about our server is that because of the low population, there’s no monetization here. If you want something, flask or otherwise, you go out and farm the stuff you need for it and then coordinate with your guildies for crafts or things you can’t get yourself. These days, you have extremely minimal competition from bots and professional farmers exporting to Whitemane.
For myself, I’ve been playing on this server for a little over a year now. It’s completely saved the game for me. I very much do not enjoy the economic sim that the game has become and I have zero desire to spend my money on virtual currency to buy something that makes me slightly stronger for a relatively short period of time. Everybody is talking about how great having a lot of people in-game is and all I see is how it’s ruined the experience.
We also aren’t pros… we clear the content but we go at a slower pace. Our raid nights are filled with banter and good times. It’s much more about the time we spend together than the content we down or the parses we log. Which is fine by me because when I look back later on, nobody is going to care what my parses on warcraftlogs are.
This is a very personal perspective though, I get it’s not for everybody. Maybe give it some thought and if you think you might want to try it, look for posts by Jarl-Grobbulus for more details.
Either way, good luck to you!

I am more disappointed with their approach to Anniversary.
It’s like adding 40 more players to a basketball court and expecting everything to run smoothly. The rules of basketball were not designed for it.

I dont think they care as much as yall want. Its a classic progression server in a few months nothing will matter other than TBC.
Why would they want to cater to Classic players when you in fact signed up to play a completed game? Changing it more would stray away more from Classic

They already changed it by shoving everyone on one PvP and one PvE server.
They forced megaservers on small maps designed for the original ~3k players. The resources were not designed for this.
It’s already been heavily changed. If they’re gonna force such changes, they need to accommodate it.

Ya I get that. They made those changes to make it easier for them IMO. So they probably dont really care about all this minor stuff. Their job is done as far as they are concerned
100%.
Anniversary was only created for the Hardcore server.
there are two AU servers that you can go to in addition to the two NA servers.
Oh yes the last minute AU server that went from PVE → PVP last minute and suffered greatly from the lack of announcement and time?
Sounds great.
Oh yeah, they have economy problems too.
they need more players. NA servers need fewer players.
I can think of a win-win solution here…

Here’s how it works guys. If you make hell out of things then that’s where you end up. Its really simple. If Im a filthy gold buyer and so are all my friends and so are their friends and that’s the world we created then it will be our fate to suffer its poverty.
Mucho problemo numero uno for many people - You’re taking this game way too seriously. Pressure? Are you joking? Nothing about this game is mandatory and you have to voluntarily pay for and play it so the victim narrative will never be anything that flies.
It gets funnier when you essentially agree to having zero rights whatsoever in regard to your account when you agree to the ToS prior to being given access and you guys got whole published libraries already from a dozen quacks about how you’re all innocent victims of a blind and hateful agency. Like you got rights or something. Your experience is not guaranteed either, if you bother with things like the fine print.
So Corpseknife’s advice is to stop taking your cues from meta cult land and maybe play the game like a normal human being for a change. Flasking isnt an option for everyone so some guilds must not be worrying about them at the MC level and could have some spots open so you can stop feeling “pressure”. lul.

58 shaman who keeps running over to tell us 60s we’re making the game unplayable.
Yep I love having to play like this too. Running at mobs fighting for tags on every layer everytime I’m farming is also how I prefer to play the game.
Sorry bud, wish I could let you play the game too.
I have been noticing the same thing. Thanks for putting it in words.
