World of Warcraft Writers

World of Warcraft writers have progressed the story lines and lore of the game for decades. Their influence has been a cause of celebration and consternation for the Wow fans. I would like to open a discussion of how Wow writers have impacted the game. How writers should create stories for Wow. And what you think Wow writers should focus on in the future.

Here is a partial list of Wow writers:

Matt Burns
Steve Danuser
Cameron Dayton
Christie Golden
Jeff Grubb
William King
Richard A.Knaak
Micky Meilson
Chris Metzen
Aaron S. Rosenberg
Anne Stickney

Wow writers have written for the game itself as well as published Wow books and comics.

I would also like to ask which Wow in-game story-lines you think were the best and which were the worst. Also Aside from the Wow in-game story lines, Have you read any of the Wow Books, either hard cover or paperback publications?

War, Drama, Hate, Anger, Pain. I want to be at active war with the faction I fight every day. But some how its not a war crime for me to go out and end high ranking horde members if you will in the world with no repercussions. Kinda boring tbh. The whole RP factor has left PvP and I want it back.

Personally I would like to see more disagreements with the two main factions, heartfelt arguments between leaders that may end in diplomacy or may end in action.
I know Thrall is trying to be Anduin’s friend but what if something happened that caused a great divide between the two? What if something happened that couldn’t make each other trust the other again for quite some time?

I love how cutesy the game is now. Vulpera were the best addition

War is icky

Blizzard laid her off. She’s no longer part of the team.

World of Warcraft: Rise of the Horde, Pocket Books, December 2006
World of Warcraft: Beyond the Dark Portal (with Aaron Rosenberg), Pocket Books, June 2008
World of Warcraft: Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, Pocket Books, May 2009
World of Warcraft: The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm, Pocket Books, October 2010
World of Warcraft: Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects, Pocket Books, July 2011
World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War, Pocket Books, August 2012
World of Warcraft: War Crimes, Gallery Books, May 2014; Pocket Books, May 2015 Warcraft: Durotan: The Official Movie Prequel, Titan Books, May 2016
Warcraft: The Official Movie Novelization, Titan Books, June 2016
World of Warcraft: Before the Storm, June 2018
World of Warcraft: Exploring Azeroth - Eastern Kingdoms, November 2020
World of Warcraft: Sylvanas, March 2022

Andy needs to be assassinated. That would tear the factions apart.

Maybe stop turning wow into a kids game.

Okay, then start naming your characters with lore friendly names and no alt-codes.

He has no heir.

I believe warcraft writers should write warcraft, this is what they should do with warcraft game to progress it.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: what does a players name have to do with shoddy story writing?

To be taken seriously, adult writing is serious.
Your name should then reflect that, if you think the game is too kidlike.

This is peak mental illness.

Best Warcraft writer is whoever is behind those “Steamy Romance Novels”. They can be naughty and get they’re fanfic in game while still getting paid.

And are you the decider on what constitutes a “serious” name?

What makes a name “serious” or not to you? I’m oh so curious lol
