Would it be possible to play World of Warcraft on a Mobile Device like a cell phone or ipad etc? So far It is playable on laptops. So I was wondering if the game could be played on mobile devices. And if this was possible would players want to play on mobile?
I played it on my iphone through steam link or remote desktop could work also. Requires a tiny bit of setup but not to bad. And you can really only do very basic tasks. It works but not that well.
yes, it was possible years ago with remote access apps that paired your pc to your (Android?) phone, complete with touchscreen controls.
I ran a technical service desk and I let all my employees remote in on their phones and do their table/order hall chores throughout the day as long as it didn’t affect their work.
I know some people around here play WoW on a Steam Deck.
Simple answer is No as WoW has so many buttons and would probably make your phone or tablet catch fire from overheating. WoW was designed to be a computer only game and that’s the only way it can be as it wouldn’t work on anything else
Im sure you could use winlator to play classic or something on an android.
no. I hate mobile gaming. screen too small.
Mobile is a bit tough but was a bit do-able with some gray areas of the TOS that eventually got changed to prohibit till recently.
The problem is that your phone or mobile device isn’t powerful enough to run the game, even barebones Classic and it’s rather hard to control anything with a touch screen that isn’t supported by the base game. Speaking of which, running WoW outside of Windows does have some issues and lack of any major support.
Now you were able to use NVidia GeForce Now while it was in Beta, but Blizz changed their TOS right after it went live to prohibit streaming the game that way. Same goes for Steam Link and so forth. Now that it is allowed, it makes it easier so long as you have the badwidth.
As for controlls, you can get a controller attachment or just Bluetooth a controller to the phone. The downside is that if youre using GeForce now, you don’t get to keep you addons / settings (at least when I tried this).
The best alternatives are the Steamdeck or any of it’s clones. You can meet the minimum system specs for Classic AND Retail. Plus you get to keep all of your addons and have controller support right there.
As for your question about if people want this… not really. Yeah sounds fun and all. Dungeons are doable with some practice, but you can’t necessarily Raid or M+ due to a variety of issues. I wouldn’t ever attempt to do PVP (in the game normally either). Best thing you’re going to do is use the AH or craft some gear. Maybe do some WQs.
If you are willing accept a low enough resolution and frame rate, anything is playable on mobile.
You can pretty decently do it using steam link. Only casual stuff, ye won’t be doing keys.
do u ever stop posting
Geforce Now, no hardware needed, streams directly from anywhere with a connection. You can play on your phone, a tablet, or chromebook no problem. They run the game on RTX 4090 equivalent, all you need is a screen and an input device.
No… I want a keyboard, mouse, and 25" screen (minimum)… Arclight Rumble and Hearthstone seem like good fits for mobile, but WoW has too many abilities for me to want to be mashing a tiny screen that also has to have clickable-size button icons (taking away from screen real estate to show the battle-field on targets therein).
This. Geforce now with a bluetooth controller and its an easy setup. It cost money though for ultimate.
a steam deck is far more powerful than a smartphone.
For sure. But I’d still call it a mobile device. Not a phone, but a mobile device.
back in my day a mobile device was a laptop
