World Of Warcraft On Mobile

I have heard about Warcraft Rumble that can be played on mobile devices. I also remember something about Diablo 4 also on mobile. I’m not a techie. So my question is:
Do you think it possible to play World of Warcraft on a cell phone or tablet mobile device?

And if it were possible, would you play Wow on a mobile device?

8-bit WoW coming

the latency on a computer of wow as is you think a phone could handle that…?

very very doubtful would need a lot of simplification, spell effects extremely minimal view distance lol of a 4x4 yard range… no I don’t think wow on a phone atm would be feasible.

If they ever figure out how to make a “bite-sized” mini-version of WoW playable on a phone… my goodness that would be like printing money :flushed:

Think of the current playerbase which is mostly old-timers/og/Boomer types, and then compare it with the sheer size of the normie population out there…

Perhaps the Plunderstorm thing was a beta-test of this “instanced, but separate” tech that could someday be used for a phone version of WoW

I’ve played the Diablo.

I find it difficult to play. It honestly needs a controller (which makes it a bit moot). I don’t play a lot of mobile games, it’s basically got a pair of synthetic thumb-joysticks in each corner. One is motion the other is aiming.

It doesn’t work for me. I won’t comment on the gameplay.

Rumble is casual and fun. It’s as much WoW as Hearthstone is WoW. It’s part of the universe, recognizable characters and such. That’s about it.

It’s a clever deck building tower defense style game. (Or maybe it’s not clever, maybe its a dime a dozen, I don’t play many of these. It was clever to me.).

I just play the standard play Rumble, I haven’t bought anything. I haven’t even spent the currencies we get. I just play it while sitting with the cat waiting for him to wind down for the night.

These are questions you ask to someone that hasnt played any of the games mentioned.

We can’t even get WoW on console, you think mobile is gonna get it?? Not a chance.

With the importance of add ons (and no, not just combat affiliated ones) the console thing gonna be tough.

Could they do like Skyrim does with their custom content and mod shop? They let people submit them to the shop and people can install them. They disable trophies but at least they are there.

One of the issues is that Skyrim isnt putting out new content, constantly.

They’d have to re-approve every single add on every patch. Sometimes more often as hot fixes, etc can effect add ons.

And on top of Blizzard approving them. They would have to pay Sony and Xbox to approve them each time as well.

It would be a constant state of Blizzard approving them and constantly paying Microsoft and Sony to also approve them.

There was gonna be a WoW mobile. It fell through when the stuff with Netease did.

Ah, true, I didn’t consider that  To be honest, I’d be happy to be able to play on console even if it meant giving up the few addons I use, but I know many people don’t feel the same.

I can keep dreaming, I suppose haha

I think the issue with wow on mobile is more about whether the user interface is appropriately designed for the smaller screen than the hardware being an issue.

Depends on the device, but (for example) the iPad Pro chips are desktop class chips that could easily run wow. Connect a mouse and keyboard or a controller, and you could project the screen to your TV. Top end iPhones should be able to work as well, though they are bit behind the M series chips in terms of processing power, which makes sense.

I don’t know why anyone would want to play a game like wow using the tiny phone screen, but projecting to a larger display is an option. I suppose playing on a 12.9 inch iPad Pro screen is a bit more realistic, comparatively speaking.

Assuming you can get the game to run smoothly on a phone, how would you even play it?
You need a mouse and keyboard.

Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Or a controller.

Yeah but at that point its not portable gaming so just use a pc :stuck_out_tongue:

It would quite literally be portable.

If youre lugging around a keyboard and mouse, its as portable as a laptop. So might as well bring your laptop

sometimes I think you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel for your daily GD attention posts.

I mean, I’m not saying this would be my preferred way to play a video game, but we’re at the point where it’s possible.

If I was traveling often and wanted to play games, I would personally buy a laptop. But I’m sure there are use cases for making this work.

Another option would be a steamdeck running windows. Not much different to playing a game on mobile as far as the hardware is concerned.
