World Of Warcraft Not Responding on Launch

I run WoW on 2 Macs. An Intel MacBook Pro and a Mac Studio. The Intel unit had the problem with the crash with the 10.0.5 update that got fixed. The MacStudio had been running smoothly until today. Today the game will not launch either from Battle.net or by launching the App directly.

In the Force Quit dialog, WoW shows as not responding. When I force quit and generate a report, the even seems to be a hang. I have the problem report that I can provide. This was working just fine literally yesterday. I rebooted and also updated to Ventura 13.2.1 and the problem still occurs. This problem does not occur on my Intel unit as I was able to successfully launch the game a few minutes ago while the MacStudio was updating.

I’m having the same issue. It worked fine this morning, logged off and just tried to log back in. Will not launch classic wotlk, just bounces around and will not respond. I have a MacBook Pro and is fully updated. Frustrating.

Same here - click “play” and the Warcraft icon bounces like a bad basketball

If you Force Quit, you should get a dialog that says you forced it to quit (duh) and the option to look at a report. If you do that, is the “event” a hang? Are you on Apple Silicon or Intel?

I had this issue yesterday/today on a brand new m2 mbp and I solved by uninstalling and reinstalling. Which was very fast!

Did you just trash it and then reinstall from Battle.net?

Another patch breaking game for Mac. Same issue have re-installed no luck here.

it wasn’t just a mac only issue, it was universal. It also wasn’t due to a recent patch, but the auth server being down/slow. The app basically “phones home” on launch and if it can’t reach blizzard, it hangs until it can.

That makes sense. It initially looked like a connection issue on my side.

I was about to give up and had an update from the battle app. Once the update completed, my game was able to launch. Have no clue what the issue is but hopefully they look into and fix it. Best of luck to y’all.

I’ll give it another try on the Mac Studio–curious how it worked no problem on the Intel unit though! Thanks for the information!

I get this semi-regularly. I’m running a 2019 27” iMac. Latest OS version and update.

Okay, so just tried to launch on my Mac Studio and the same thing happened–app reported as not responding, but I let it go and it eventually logged in. Thanks for your explanation!

Having the same problem - AGAIN! This happened last week also after the download. I have a new iMac so there are no issues that should crop up. I’ve been on this Mac for a year and wow has been running fine until that past month. I’ve deleted add ons, reset the in game options twice. Been playing wow since 2006 and never had so many problems as these latest patches…If anyone finds a fix, please post.

I am having this issue as well. I tried the workaround someone suggested in the other thread about this problem, where you launch classic and exit to launch retail. It worked once. Now it doesn’t work. Trying to launch any version of WoW causes it to spin and bounce and stop responding, requiring a force quit. No error message with a code. Just the typical ignore or report window that pops up whenever you force quit. Sometimes I’ll let it bounce and spin and it will eventually launch. Most of the time it just seems to give up. No error message for that either.

I’ve been pretty patient with this issue so far because I keep treating it like a message from the Gods to go do something else with my time like a responsible adult, but the more I keep getting that message, the harder it gets to justify bothering with the game at all.

Not working here also. Doesn’t launch out of Battle.Net nor directly from within the retail folder. Tried repairing install, tried reinstalling, same result. Spinny beach ball of sadness.

Seems to hang from the launch agent “launchd [1]”

When this happens you have to troubleshoot network connection to blizzard. the app usually hangs at launch due to failure to connect to battle.net try rebooting modem/router, try changing to a different dns.

Happens all the time. Never have found a good way around it. I run scan and repair, restart the computer multiple times, stare with aggravation at the screen, nothing much helps. It seems to eventually work again.

yeah, the way it hangs if it cannot connect to blizz is unintuitive and should be fixed. it’s also difficult to know why it cannot connect to blizzard.
