If Bliz decides to make Wow II. What would you prefer the Graphic Style to look like?
Cartoony like it is now. Or Realistic?

Given the somewhat boring way they seem to be pushing some of their “more realistically styled” CGI cutscenes (e.g. how inconsistent they are with elven traits), I’d say “bliz realistic” would likely be uninteresting.
Abstract. /10
The thing about WoW is it was designed to be able to be played on potato computers, so updating it would be a detriment TBH.
cartoony is what makes warcraft warcraft, and not just another generic fantasy game.
stylized art also ages far better, it doesn’t need to chase the newest graphical hotness to stay relevant.
use CoD as an example, they all have realistic graphics, but if you went back and played the first CoD you’d look at it and say “this looks awful”
that’s not to say realistic warcraft art doesn’t have its place, the CG cinematics are amazing, but the game itself? cartoony. Always.
Like, LOTRO already has a niche of less stylized looking western fantasy and it’s frankly dull visually at equivalent graphic quality as wow
Cartoony would be way better. WoW strikes a perfect balance where it’s cartoony but not so cartoony that you can’t take the serious parts seriously. Too many MMOs go for a more realistic approach, which is fine, but a lot of the Warcraft universe works because it’s cartoony.
Wildstar attempted to go for an even more cartoony look, but it was rather off-putting imo.
I wouldn’t call it realistic. Maybe call it properly proportioned. The goofy graphics of WoW is what turned me off towards the game when it was initially released. I went a different route with MMOs until trying out the game back in Wrath of the Lich King.
I do prefer properly proportioned graphics and characters so I would like to see that in WoW 2 if it came to it.
There’s a common confusion between style and rendering. You can have cartoony style that is rendered more realistically. Examples are Overwatch, Spyro Reignited, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. All very cartoony but the rendering is modern using physically based rendering materials. Warcraft universe has always been cartoony and it should stay that way, but rendering evolution should be considered.
“cartoony” isn’t quite exactly the term i’d use, not sure what else to call it though…
but, anyway, as mentioned in here before, it ages better.
Ever seen windwaker on the gamecube? That game’s art style aged like a fine wine. Whereas twilight princess’s has aged like milk. Wonder why…
I would call it “stylized” -tho even when I think that style is cartoony-
But yeah, WoW’s style is the thing that has only gotten better with time, the fidelity is reaching that plateau where when they try to push it too far it’s starting to look weird -like Sylvanas weirdly play doh hair in Shattered Memories-
I think WoW’s style honestly peaked with BfA Jaina and Thrall’s models. All they need to do now is focus on animation and rigging.
I don’t think the current team could make their own game to be honest.
