World Latency issues

For the past few days, my latency in-game has been over 200, and sometimes over 300. Everything is fine on my end, and checking latency in-game shows low Home numbers (less than 60) but high World numbers. Any idea what the problem could be? (Restarting computer hasn’t helped)

Hi Zargrin

Run a WinMTR test let’s see what shows up there.

The instructions are on this Blizzard Support page:

Once you have the tool open enter the IP number for the server group you play on in the WinMTR box then hit start.

137.221.105.2 (West Coast)
24.105.62.129 (Central - Chicago)

(only the number - include periods)

Leave it run for 5 minutes or so. Doesn’t matter if you are playing or not. Then use the button that copies Text to your clipboard. Paste that on your thread here.

*You may need to alter or remove any URL addresses to paste on forum. You could also place the test results in a code block:

Open chat box - paste test then right click - “select all”. Should highlight everything. Then press the preformatted text button along top of chat box. Looks like this </>.

There are odd readings on the Blizzard side of the connection. I would open a ticket on this.

https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/1462/ticket

Include that WinMTR on your ticket.

It may be that the backbone things I’m seeing are just backbone switches showing odd readings. You might want to work through the connection troubleshooting support page.

open the Advanced Troubleshooting section as well

Update: just tried everything in the Connection Troubleshooting page, disabled all addons, checked my computer for malware, etc. Still running 290+ latency. I sent in a ticket, and am waiting for a response. It’s odd because it seems like WoW is the only thing I’m having any issue with. Hearthstone runs just fine, no latency. Watching YouTube videos on the same computer is fine, no delays whatsoever. Not sure what’s going on here.

You mention disabling addons. Was that the full UI reset. WTF, Cache, Interface renamed with old extension. Disabling addons often won’t work if they are causing the problem. Addon issues are a common cause of these unexplained latency threads.

I think that actually worked. Running at 48 MS right now, will see if it stays good the next couple of days. Thank you!

Good to see. Now you would want to download new copies of the addons. Install one at a time testing as you go.
