It’s unique, that’s for sure, nobody makes golf references. I don’t even care for golf, but I get it. I’ll try to explain it I guess.
Short answer: 14 under is basically acing the entire course with near perfect performance.
Long answer: Each hole for the course has a ‘par’ metric, usually par 3 to par 5, determining how many shots it should take to complete it. If you finish a par 3 hole in 3 shots, you were on par, not over or under at all. You get a zero score for that. If you did the par 3 in 4 shots, you are +1, and if you did it with a hole-in-one like a super pro, you’re at -2.
So, ending an 18-hole course with a total score of -14 means you got numerous holes-in-one, or at least frequently were like 2 under on several holes. That’s a peak performance that basically nobody gets.

I don’t think you know how mythic raiding works.
Edit: do yourself a favor, go to wowprogress scim through the rankings. This is week 2 btw. 1 guild killed the last boss so far.
To put it in perspective my guild which is very casual. We raid on the weekends on an 8 hour per week schedule. WE HAVE NOT RAIDED YET this week. we are ranked 231 in the U.S, 581 in the world… with only 3 mythic bosses dead. and 5 pulls on mythic hivemind. Wrathion is a pretty hard boss considering it’s the first boss of a tier, we did struggle a bit with killing it albeit we were trialing tanks and I had expected us to put more time than what we wanted into this boss.
That first boss, is probably harder than the majority of all bosses from classic- and a good portion of TBC. The difficulty of those bosses in that era were due to overtuning and tons and tons of bugs. The uninitated don’t really look at the numbers or the mechanics of the bosses. They see. oh one guild killed it that must mean a bunch of guilds are going to kill it soon. Right? No.
Take mythic Azshara for example a lot of the kills were MUCH MUCH later. you know how many guilds killed mythic Azshara? 859. A lot of these guilds getting there kill after many, many nerfs. Not even a thousand guilds in the world killed this boss. People call WoW a dead game but there is still a huge number of players playing this game. Pages and pages upon pages of guilds. That never even killed 6 mythic bosses in that tier.

“Gear check” bosses don’t really work anymore. That concept was dead the instant titanforging was introduced. “Gear check” bosses worked when the supply of gear was limited to the weekly raid lockout and did not have a chance to titan/corrupt-forge. Now we have an infinite supply of gear from the M+ slot machine which has killed off that boss concept. Even if such a boss existed, its only purpose would be to force world-first guilds to farm M+ for a day to get their raiders lucky titan/corrupt-forges. Then the boss would be nerfed into a forgettable loot pinata once the race ends.
Gear checks still exist. Believe me. Having enough damage to beat certain parts of the fight is still very real.
People like OP are comparing what limit does, or what method does (or any of the guilds that are far into the tier) to the rest of the guilds in the world. They spend a lot of time prepping, a lot of split runs, 1000s of islands, m+ grinding, the vast majority of what people would consider good guilds do not do that.

I could have sworn that in some interview Ion or one of the senior developers stated they had a 2 week time frame they would like mythic to be cleared by. Why? No idea–I assume it has something to do with making sure guilds can kill it once they over gear it before the next raid tier–but if it gets close to 2 weeks they will start nerfing until someone kills it.
People still gear up to rank.
I am not sure you can make a hard PvE game that is played online, as you still have to design encounters with latency in mind.
Blizzard doesn’t worry about what one or two guilds who play nearly 24 hours a day do the first week and a half. The average mythic raider doesn’t play like that. Blizzard has nothing to do with the worlds first race, not to mention EU or US firsts. They don’t participate with it. So far it isn’t an Esport. They would start worrying about it when they could monetize it.
the amount of players completing mythic raids is already such a tiny percentage, making it hard enough that the world first guilds cant complete it in a week would make it worse for even more than the already 99% of the population that doesnt finish it.
the purpose of games are to get people to play. if its too hard, whats the point?
catering content to the top percentage is a very bad business decision, unless its a free to pay mobile game where the top percentage bankrolls your entire game.

Too many gear options now so it’s no surprise raids are cleared fast. They have to set the bar higher or set mythic plus drops to weekly lockouts. Even then to what purpose would it serve to delay them being killed.
It’s impossible to take your comments seriously when you’re posting from a character that hasn’t raided since uldir.
In any case if the successes of people you don’t know, who don’t know you, are all that takes to discourage you… that’s a you problem.
it wasnt it took 9 days that is over 1 week
As Blizzard employee Bashiok said, years ago:
“Whatever will you do, now that people who aren’t you have beaten the last boss.”

It took the most elite players in the world over 270 pulls. How is that too fast? In terms of hours put in, they spent more time in the raid already than the vast majority will for the entirety of the raids lifespan as relevant content.

Blizzard has become complacent and lazy. There is absolutely no reason why a guild should be able to clear 10/12 normal even, the first day the raid is released.
Make sure to tell the Classic devs they’re lazy when BWL comes out.
You mean all the stuff thats already been made? Cause, making a few fixes to things is so much more difficult than designing something new right?
Hey OP, have you ever considered that these players have lives?
Because it wasn’t beaten in the first week.
Could someone with image posting privileges get a slowpoke Pokemon in here?
I bet blizzard thought they had gear check bosses, like Raden… but they underestimated corruption damage and have been panic nerfing it since 8.3 launched.
