World first race is not fair

I’m very curious why blizzard doesn’t make the race to world first more fair given it attracts so much attention and revenue for the game. NA has almost an entire day head start over EU and let’s not forget the other regions.

I know there’s been countless times where EU has gotten world first regardless of the time disadvantage but that still doesn’t make the race fair. I’m not really a fan of any team to be honest I just would like to see them all start at the same time.

It’s a simple solution just do a global release like how they do expansion launches. I know for some places it would be an awkward time but these players no doubt would do what it took to be awake at those times.

Also maybe only have the global reset the first two weeks or something since the race is usually over by then. At that point can change it back to normal schedule. Right now it’s like you are in a marathon but your competition gets to start 10 miles ahead of you so your always playing catch-up if your not on NA. As I said above I don’t really care who wins the race it would just be nice to give all the teams a fair start.

Out of curiosity, other than the free advertising how much revenue do you believe the event generates for Blizzard?

Also, it’s not a Blizzard sanctioned event…they did not create the rules so they probably don’t care if it’s fair

That EU can then copy the strats of said NA guild and then by the end its on the same footing…

We’ve had discussions like these for many years now and usually it wasn’t that much of a problem because EU often managed to get WF anyway.
This time however I see a lot of problems with the earlier reset in NA because of the upcoming double legendaries. I can see it happening that NA gets WF just because of this huge advantage.

If you know how the race actually works, the extra day almost never matters.

We go over this every tier.

Oh god, here we go again. The whole “16 hours headstart” fallacy.

The literal only time this matters is if NA was already close to killing the final boss on a Monday and needed that last reset’s worth of gear to kill said boss. I.E. if they hypothetically get Jailer to 10% this Monday and go in and steamroll the boss on Tuesday after getting Vaults and double Legendaries.

Otherwise, this alleged “16 hour headstart” completely goes away for two reasons: NA gets to the bosses sooner so they have to deal with ludicrously overtuned bosses (Halondrus, Anduin) or incredibly bugged mechanics (SLG) sooner longer, and because NA gets to the bosses sooner the EU/CN guilds get a lot of data from the NA guilds’ pulls so they can preemptively fix the mistakes the NA guilds were making and shave off dozens of pulls.

Ironically enough, Max (Liquid’s GM) is one of the biggest proponents of a global release specifically so that people can stop using this whole 16-hour headstart excuse for an EU guild losing for good.

And let’s not forget that so many of these players are better than me. How is that even fair?

It historically never matters. There is always a chance that NA will kill the last boss right after their reset before EU gets theirs. This tier theoretically the early double leggo unlock could cause issues.

Blizzard doesn’t care about that race though, they’re letting people compete in an untested environment, NA gotta deal with all the bugs.

Life unfortunately isn’t based around fair. It’s based around cunning, ruthlessness and innovation.
