so this just isnt a thing in this expansion, I take it?
ive been farming mobs for two hours, not a single weapon or armor drop to DE, lol.
Only drops Ive gotten is one quest or another.
so DEing world BoE drops is dead?
I have noticed the green drops appear to be a lot less frequent than I remember in the past.
seems to be that way.
forced group content. Got to love it.
Screw it. Im not running dungeons and dealing with that irritation just to enchant crap to sell. Guess I wont be playing as much as I was thinking I might.
If you have a toon in the flying smurf covenant - you can a soul bind that gives you free enchanting materials. Not that it will help you much but it’s there. I don’t know if the others do the sam though.
Join a 2x4 farm group, farm cloth craft green bracers from tailoring and DE. That will yield better results.
You DE a green worth 80g you just lost massive hold usually. 80 / 2 (average of 2 dust) it’s 40 g a dust. You didn’t pay 80g for the item but 80g is gold revenue. Bracers are like 25g usually to make and dust is usually around 12.5 with that method).
Hope that helps.
Edit: buy shrouded at 1.6g each to 1.7g and get thread from an exalted source if you don’t want to farm. If it’s for ah use, you make a real good chunk.
My tailor gets a plethora of cloth drops so I just make a bunch of stuff to disenchant myself.
No, you just disenchant gear you make or gear you pick up from quest rewards, world quests and Korthia dailies. And you’ll pick up a LOT of useless gear. lol
weird…spent about two hours farming mobs all over SLs and not a single drop from world trash. Only got gear from quests i ran.
As others have posted, cloth drops are like rain this expansion. Might also wanna level up a rogue because pickpocketing Shadowlands mobs has a chance for actual lockboxes with greens.
cloth? BoE ?
where are you all farming ?
As stated twice now, I ran for two hours and nothing…not a single world trash dropped a single BoE to DE.
Cloth, as in the materials used in tailoring, the profession most often paired with enchanting, to craft your disenchantment fodder.
Ive got engineering on that character for other reasons.
so can I assume my assumptions are correct, though? that this expansion sucks chicken rump for BoE drops from world trash to DE ?
Honestly, my experience isn’t the same as yours. I’m not saying your experience didn’t happen. But I also don’t normally play actively looking for trash to drop for me to disenchant. I see green items from trash mobs while I am questing often enough.
But relying on greens and blues to drop from open world trash to level your enchanting profession is, by itself, probably one of the most inefficient ways to do it. That’s just my opinion.
off hand do you know a spot in particular?
I dont mind farming where I have to…just want the greens for DEing and its seriously not working out.
ive googled and wowheaded it but its all old information at this point.
obviously in this expansion, that seems to be the case. I never had this trouble farming up thru Mists and even WoD and Legion seem to give gear drops frequently enough farming world mobs, though not nearly as well as mists used to (I swear they nerfed the hades out of Isle of thunder thru last year…missing mobs and drop rates are horrid now).
I dont mind it taking some time, I love the farming…but if nothing is going to drop I dont want to waste the time. lol
Poor wording on my part. “The gear you pick up” is from quests and world quests and eventually from Korthia. Not trash drops.
i see. yeah, thats what Ive noticed…alll the drops Im getting is only from quests of some sort.
ah well…AH it is, I guess. No reason to actually play the game if nothing is dropping. lol
No, no particular spots, I mostly just do world quests or dailies and get what I get. There’s too much RNG involved in random mob drops for their to be a deterministic path, even if some mobs are reported to have a higher drop rate for disenchantable items.
If you are just trying to knock it out and get it done, there is a very good reason why tailoring is often paired with enchanting. Tailoring you don’t need a second gathering profession to keep up and can fuel your enchanting with tailoring.
My enchanter is also a jewelcrafter so I just funnel materials to him from my alts. Most of my alts came to be because I wanted to be self sufficient with my main and their professions.
It may not be the answer you want, but that’s my solution for your problem.
Edit: The reason why people are suggesting tailoring specifically is because tailors get a passive buff “Cloth Scavenging” that increases the droprate of cloth material from humanoid mobs.
No reason to do that. Between the boxes you can get from Korthia that contain enchanting mats, the Covenant hall bags you can get that have enchanting mats, the quest rewards you’ll DE and the Korthia stuff you can DE, you should have plenty. I usually do. And I don’t actively look for this stuff.
farming trash for gear drops doesn’t seem like the best use of time
my main enchanter has tailoring too, but Im not dragging the character into SLs.
ive been taking Engineering on all other characters for the AHs and wormholes to speed up moving around the game world and not have to run back to a capitol city every minute or two to get to an AH. lol.
Which leaves that one profession slot free to take ench or whatever.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I spose I’ll just have to AH the mats I need instead.
ah…ok…i’ll check that out too.
