World events?

Hey. How come we dont have world events? Like, idk, a massive boss shows up once a year and players have a week 5o defeat it. It can reward some crazy cool stuff. I feel like this would be a super cool event for guilds.

Holidays sort of do that, but they’ve gotten stale.

If you mean dynamic world events? That would be cool, but devs only have time for instanced content.

I do wish they had more like zone-wide contribution system events. The more people who do quests or collect stuff in a zone would increase the progress bar and then eventually cause a special event.

Maybe we’d see people calling for, “Hey can more people come to Tanaris and do XYZ! We’re at 94%!” or something.

yeah, something out in the world. the valentines thing event is lame. you just spam it with alts for a chance of something. id like to see a tough monster to tackle with a somewhat large group of people that you have to go tackle in the world. i mean, we have world bosses but they’re up each week.

That would be nice, but too many players whine and complain when “forced” to deal with such events. See the recent Shadowlands pre-patch.

If people want to play without participating the world event and without quitting the game (or going to a garrison or whatever), they should have that choice. Choices like that aren’t bad, as i said before on the Shadowlands pre-patch.

Why are people still demonizing players who just want to play without being affected by the world events like that and be anti-choice to the suggestion of having the option to opt out of world events without quitting or such, thinking it’s a same thing as removing it when they don’t even mention about removing it and think opting out is very horrible*, but logging out during that time is not, i don’t know. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

*I’m still trying to figure that one out on why to them, opting out of the world event via toggle is like the worst thing ever, but at the same time, they happily suggest people to log out or just hide in the garrison or go to another town, essentially avoid the event, like that’s perfectly fine to say after being not okay with a toggle opt-in/opt-out. Really contradictory tbh.

By all means OP, i would like this idea but along it comes with a toggle that players can get to opt in and out of if you’re going to have monsters and such, attacking left and right. Similar to Warmode, but with “Eventmode” or something for the name.

We do but unless it has good rewards, no one cares.

With the current structure of servers, I don’t think its possible to have a world event. The weekly world boss can get laggy depending when you go. I can only imagine how bad it would be for something more epic.

I do miss that regular event from vanilla, someone saw Kazzak, Azuregos, or a green dragon spawn and a guild or 40 man tries to race and fight them.

More FOMO stuff? Ugh, no thanks.

When RIFT first came out, I jumped on it pretty quickly and I won’t lie, that was some of the most fun I had. Random riffs opening in a zone ready to wreak havoc and you watch players flood in and group up to take them down.

You even had the choice to force Rifts open at times.

Wonder how that game is doing

Missed opportunity they had back in Legion, and BFA with invasions, and faction assaults. I mean yeah they want to keep people funneled into new zones every 2 years, but having a random Legion invasion, and BFA faction assault happen in Kalimdor, and Eastern Kingdoms would of been nice imo. Folks leveling new characters in those old zones could of taken a break from the same old boring monotonous regular quests in those zones to participate in a Legion invasion, or faction assault.
