This first: the Halloween quests suck. I said what I said.
I’m throwing stinkbombs in the Undercity, which is a subterranean city populated by animated rotting corpses. Based on that, I think they’ve already got the foul stench covered (no offense to the Undead players); my stinkbombs aren’t going to do much.
Should have had me throwing bottles of Febreez.
But I’ve been getting the new pets (new to me, that is). I tried to guess which pets would be the most useful, but according to the PvE quests on Xu-Fu, I was way off.
I assumed first, Widget the Departed, then Cursed Birman, then Naxxy, then Feline Familiar, and then finally Sinister Squashling (which I already got two of while “trick or treating”).
Nope. Based on number of strats on Xu-Fu, the clear winner is Feline Familiar, with 181 strats. Distant second is Cursed Birman with 100 strats. Then Widget the Departed with 83. Next is Naxxy with 23. Then finally, Sinister Squashling with 11 strats.
Man, was I off base.
Still, I’ve gotten four of them so far, Widget, Birman, Naxxy and the Squashling. I still have plenty of time to get Feline Familiar.
I’ve been getting invitations on all my alts on some new event outside of Caverns of Time. Are there any pets involved? If not, I won’t bother.
Feline Familiar has always been a good pet for capture and leveling teams. It hits hard and has a shield and self heal. Plus it’s always been a cool looking pet, a black cat wearing a witch’s hat and flies along side you sitting a a broom. 
There are quite a few pets with the anniversary event. All of the old pets that were one time things going all the way back to the blizzard bear from the fourth anniversary can be bought with event currency. Most don’t get used too often, so that’s mostly a matter if you value collecting or battling.
There’s the Timeless Mechanical Dragonling from a few years back though, which is a slightly improved version of the Mechanical Panderan Dragonling that would definitely be worth going after.

But isn’t the Dragonling with Time Badges?
I think so. You can earn them there with some of the events, like the daily trivia question. If I remember right, it’s one of those pets that usually only available from the vendors during the yearly anniversary event.

Historian Ma’di is selling the Timeless Mechanical Dragonlings, for 200 TWB each. I have far more than enough to buy three.
In addition, she’s selling a Corgi Pup pet for 200 TWB.
Finally, she’s got a pet called L’il Doomy’s Hilt for 10 Bronze celebration tokens.
Edit: In addition, there is another pet called Craggles that sells for 2200 TWB (Yikes!) from Bobadormu. He also sells a pet called Misty for another 2200.
