Blizz needs to get rid of world buffs in raids if they are serious about Classic+.
I think a fresh normal Classic reboot is great with world buffs and all. There is definitely a market for it.
But for Classic+ there NEEDS to be something new to catch people’s interest and keep them playing. Something that changes the way the game is played.
Removing world buffs in raids and removing the debuff cap will do that. It would COMPLETELY change the end game DPS meta, and possibly tank and healer meta. DoT classes will become stronger and melee classes that scale really well with world buffs will get weaker.
If Blizz keeps world buffs in raids or uses Chrono, the end game will be exactly as it was the first time around with 15 dps warriors in every raid. Nothing new, which will lead to fast boredom.
Blizz needs a fresh meta for fresh Classic+, and removing world buffs and uncapping boss debuffs is a simple way to do it.
You don’t have to join a guild/raid team that requires world buffs. They aren’t necessary. Chill players do exist, you just have to find them. That said, if they were disabled in raids I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.
Removing the debuff cap though would be lovey. My lock could do something more interesting than pass out candy, soul-stone the healer, and then spam shadowbolts just slow enough to not pull aggro.
World buffs are legit cool and the chronoboon solved a lot of the issues with them. Seeing half the server packed into booty bay or storm wind getting hit with lightning was fun. If there was one change I’d like it would maybe be for ony/nef to hit the three capitals so people could use iron forge more.
This is true, and there will always be 1-2 guilds per server that don’t use world buffs, but it’s like having one hand tied behind your back in basketball, you’ll always be at a disadvantage, and intentionally not using a major advantage is not what most guilds will do
Oh I absolutely agree. That’s why they’re harder to find. But just personally I did all this eight to ten years ago, and it’s all easier now. So I just can’t take it seriously enough to play the sweaty meta min-max whatevers any more.
I played late-night in Classic so I was limited in my choice of guilds.
I recall proposing we try BWL one night (when AQ was on farm) without world buffs to see where we stacked up without the cheese and all the hardcore sweaty buff people started raging about what a dumb idea that was and we never tried.
Maybe it’s just me, but I really like competing on an even playing field.
