World buffs and classic

Anyone else tired of getting world buffs? I estimate i spend at least 6 hours getting world buffs and dungeon buffs every week for a 30 minute raid. Not to mention raid logging and being unable to play my main for sometimes 4 days in a row.

I’d be perfectly ok with world buffs no longer working inside instances, make them world only. Makes instances harder which is also a net positive. Thoughts?

If you’re clearing BWL in 30 minutes you don’t need to spend that much time getting world buffs. If your guild requires it, then maybe you would be happier in a more casual guild. I don’t go in with any world buffs and BWL takes us about an hour and a half. The difference isn’t worth six hours of you aren’t enjoying those six hours.

if your tired of them, and don’t need them, why would you need to change the way they work?

Don’t want them, don’t try to get them. This is clearly a you issue with a you solution.

Ahh so many people like this that don’t understand OP.

You can’t say “I dont like them so I wont get them” if you are in a competitive guild. Try saying that to your GM and see what happens. No loot for you at best, or gkick at worst.

I don’t like them either, but I am in a competitive horde guild so I have to. I don’t want to leave because I don’t want to struggle in AQ or Naxx. I want to do all content not play with mediocre players that come PVP spec.

If they remove world buffs, no matter how hardcore the guild, they’d have to do it without them.

So, I’d like it if the world buffs were gone, or if there was an NPC that gave them all at once for 50g or whatever

World buffs is an adjustable difficulty setting with extra steps. 90% of players seem to be totally fine sliding it all the way down past brain-dead.

Zug zug, speed runs fun. Big numbers fun. BOSS MECHANICS BAD! Me want loot. NOW! Da boo.

My guild clears BWL unter 30 minutes, but it is stressful and I don’t like spending 5 times the time in getting buffs than clearing the instance… but I do it because I like being in a good guild and not have to carry ret paladins and feral druids. If they’d remove world buffs… I’d still be in same guild, with same good players.

It’s natural to try to optimize your game-play and do better. Not sure why you’d be against that.

You also need people running a game who look after it’s overall health and whether certain aspects are distorting or trivializing the gameplay.

There’s plenty of people even in competitive guilds who would prefer to raid without world buffs (because it’s annoying, because it makes things even stupider), but as long as they’re in the game they will get them because they’re optimizing gameplay or because their GM makes them. Only Blizzard can make that call. Personally I think the game would be healthier without them.

It’s natural for a live MMO to be continuously updated to counterbalance newly discovered / increasingly widespread behaviors that push the game so far below its intended difficulty.

10 years of static private servers, and the #nochanges mantra is FAR from natural. Classic had the fun optimized out of it. Every edge, exploit, and border line cheat is ubiquitous.

It really shouldn’t take you 6 hours to get world buffs, especially as a druid with moonglade teleport and auto unstuck feature to SW.
I can get Tribute, Zanza potion, ZG heart and songflower in under 30 mins without a summon or teleport and be waiting in SW for head drop at raid start. All with pressure of a troll shaman in SW constantly ressing and attempting to purge mine and 1 other aliance guild members at peak times who he sees with buffs.

you clearly have no idea how to world buff and fight off getting ganked/dispelled. It doesnt take little. Especially not if your guild does the MC the NPC inside UBRS to give your entire rade fire resist buff.

Isn’t that what you’re signing up for when you agree to be in a “competitive raiding guild?”

That is my, and OP’s point. We do it because we like being in a competitive guild, but we dont like world buffs. I rather do world buffs than raid with a ret paladin. If they remove world buffs, I would not miss it because getting those isn’t what I like. I like just playing with competitive people.

If no guild could get those world buffs, I’d still be in a competitive guild. It’s not fun to get world buffs but everyone who wants to compete has to. If they remove them, no one would have to and we would still compete.

What exactly are you competing for? The fastest clear time? You guys would all be slower without world buffs, or I guess that’s the point if it’s not really about the clear time but just being faster than other guilds.

That is what guilds compete for. Clear times. Record is 22 mins I believe. I like being in a competitive guild, but I don’t like world buffs. World buffs is a necessary evil to compete, but if they removed it… I’d not have to get them.

Competitive people gonna do everything they can to play better. Competitive Starcraft players do things to shave off fractions of a second to play slightly better if it’s possible. It’s not necessary to have 300APM to play Starcraft, but it is necessary if you want to be competitive. Competitive people will exploit every possible advantage because you have to in order to stay competitive. That doesn’t mean all advantages you can exploit are healthy for the game.

That’s why you need refs/devs who have a feel for the overall health and direction of the game, and can adjust things as necessary. World buffs aren’t really healthy for the balance of the raid instances and are a silly mechanic that gives you like 100+ ilvls of power for minimal effort and weren’t intended to be used this way. It’s just everyone who actually cared about the overall state of the game and made WoW great originally quit or got fired at Activision-Blizzard.

That’s not to say that players haven’t evolved, they have. Players are a lot better now at using all available mechanics, and have much better mods. The game would benefit from devs who care about adjusting the content to match.

That’s why on private servers people who cared about making the raids interesting dramatically increased the health of the bosses and made things more difficult. So you can’t just dps bosses down in 20s and skip all the mechanics like phase 2 rag.
