World Buff Patch Notes by me (Consider the Following)

World Buffs:
• The following effects will now have their timers deteriorate while logged out. Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer, Warchief’s Blessing, Spirit of Zandalar, Sayge’s Dark Fortune, Mol’Dar’s Moxie, Fengus’ Ferocity, Slip’kik’s Savvy, Songflower Serenade, Empowered by Azuregos, Kazzak’s Might, Purified by Emeriss, Lethon’s Fortitude, Taerar’s Madness, and Ysondre’s Elemental Essence.
• Azuregos now drops [Head of Azuregos] which can be turned in at Darnassus or Undercity for a quest reward and a buff called [Empowered by Azuregos] that grants +100 Spell Damage and Healing for 2 Hours.
• Lord Kazzak now drops [Soul of Kazzak] to one warlock that uses [Drain Soul] as Lord Kazzak is dying, which can be turned in at Ironforge or Undercity for a quest reward and a buff called [Kazzak’s Might] that grants +50 Shadow Resistance and +50 Strength for 2 hours.
• Emeriss now drops [Head of Emeriss] which can be turned in at Ironforge or Thunder Bluff for a quest reward and a buff called [Purified by Emeriss] that grants Immunity to Disease Effects for 2 hours.
• Lethon now drops [Head of Lethon] which can be turned in at Darnassus or Thunder Bluff for a quest reward and a buff called [Lethon’s Fortitude] that grants +50 Spirit and Stamina for 2 Hours.
• Taerar now drops [Head of Taerar] which can be turned in at Darnassus or Undercity for a quest reward and a buff called [Taerar’s Madness] that grants Immunity to Fear Effects for 2 Hours.
• Ysondre now drops [Head of Ysondre] which can be turned in at Ironforge or Thunder Bluff for a quest reward and a buff called [Ysondre’s Elemental Essence] that grants A Chance For Additional Nature Damage (80-350 dmg, 10%) When You Deal Damage With Your Melee or Ranged Attacks for 2 hours.

I thought the problem was too many World buffs. And you think a solution is to add more?

Seems cool, would be OP AF

“Let’s take away the fun of world buffs while also encouraging people to chase more, and entirely forget about there being anything special about having killed Deathwing’s children.”

thanks. i felt like it helps kill the world buff meta while at the same time making world buffs fun again

All this would do is create an even worse world buff meta where guilds feel forced to hold as many buffs as possible and force raiders to log on an hour+ before raid to do a huge buff run.

No. This would only be acceptable if all WB were disabled entering any instance and perhaps as a Classic+ server that started fresh.

im not so sure. from my experience, world buffs are entirely based around getting them, then logging off to save their duration while you wait until the next one is about to go off. simply making them tick down while logged off makes this whole meta of stacking as many as you can before raid all that much more difficult, to the point where it would end up becoming something that is an addition. it would be unrealistic to expect people to have a long slung chain of buffs ready to drop. at most, there would be heart of hakkar and onyxia head being chained together, but i feel that the meta would disintegrate and return back to being simply an added bonus for fun rather than being a required buff

Yea great idea. Lets add incredibly overpowered buffs that only the guilds in each servers “world boss mafias” will have access to.

Superb idea.

well i mean, to the victor go the spoils, right?

Yea… But if the intent is to limit the hassle of world buffs then literally everything you’re suggesting just makes it many times worse.

By having timers run when people are logged out you’re not going to keep the try-hards from getting teh buffs… You’re just gonna make the requirement to get them more difficult since now people will have to log in and get them immediately before a raid. (Which again the elite raids will do anyway… so you’re just severely punishing anyone in a slightly less casual raid.)

And by adding in 2-3 more “mandatory” buffs you just make the disparity between the 2 even greater while making the game worse for everyone…

Even as far as bad ideas on these forums go…

5/5 creativity though, I’ll give you that. Interesting idea… it’d just absolutely never work within the context of the actual game.

yeah thats entirely a possibility. but i feel that the negative impact that would have would be vastly overshadowed by the positive impact it would have on the remaining 95% of the playerbase

That’s what I’m saying… There is no positive impact. Its a net negative for everyone… Literally everyone ends up worse off than they currently are, with the arguable exception being the super duper try-hards who get to clear dungeons a little bit faster thanks to the extra buffs… but at the expense of entirely hating their lives because they have to grab 10 buffs in 30 minutes.

You’re essentially just saying “I’m going to increase the effectiveness of all world buffs but make them 10 times harder to get.”

Its just a bad idea

i understand we are looking at this from different viewpoints. anyways, what im saying is that youre only “punishing” players that already keep their characters logged off for the entire week, only to log on to grab ony, dire maul, warchief’s blessing, songflower, zg. these guys would be thanking the devs if they implimented it because now everyone would be able to relax and grab 1 maybe 2 world buffs before raid, with maybe a few top world guilds being able to still get full world buffs and be able to use them significantly during raids. realistically, these theoretical buff trains you think will happen wont happen unless these guilds are also running multiple summon alts on every buff location, otherwise these timers will be half an hour to an hour ticked down by the time they make it into naxxramas, and thats being optimistic

Not really… my guild on benediction went and got them right before we went in to raid as a team. That’s all that would happen… guilds would just do it right before raid.

You apparently have zero understanding of basic game design, or even really people in general.

Have you been completely asleep for the entirety of classic my dude???

Exactly… People arent’ gonna just stop getting buffs… particularly if you make the buffs more powerful. People will just have to log in an extra 30 minutes/hour early and anyone who cant or guilds that aren’t able/willing to set up a buff train would just be penalized.

Its just a bad idea, lol

yeah i mean like i said, these theoretical buff trains are a sound argument as to why my idea should be discarded. however i highly doubt their legitimacy as the time it would take to gather world buffs would make gathering many of them counter intuitive.

For your guild maybe (and probably most tbh.) But plenty of guilds are already clearing Naxx around the 1 hour mark… so for them, particularly with MOAR BUFFS it’d be entirely worth it… It just sucks for everyone in the raid… and for everyone who isnt so inclined, the disparity just grows.

How bored are you that you type up dissertations about things that blizzard will not change and that won’t even matter in may?
