Was thinking about how World Buffs operate and how their interactions have changed due to Chronoboon but one of the bigger issues that happen even with that is if you die you just lose all of them. On one hand it is understandable given the nature of how they were originally and how they were intended to be beforehand, but on the other given now and the implementation of the Chronoboon its obvious the interactions and behavior this was causing had to be curbed.
Ive seen teams over the iterations lose their crap over worldbuffs and understandably so and it really sucks when you lose them and how people do react about it and over all just how it keeps promoting: we drop this at this time, and we schedule them for these reasons. Not really fun, just more unnecessary micro managing.
So a few solutions to this
-When dropped anyone can interact with a certain object or just by going near said thing it will auto give them the buff
-Buffs last longer.
-Buffs no longer consumed upon death
-Those who turned in the said item can then retalk to the person they turned it into in order to regain the buff themselves.
-Buffs are removed upon entering Battlegrounds.
Bluntly, id be all for that ngl. But my perspective here is from if they are gonna keep having them be used and by them being used then its going to be always enforced mostly by many guilds/teams (understandably) but the idea was to make it easier to manage and have less issues on it.
Obviously there are no statistics to site as a source, but do you genuinely believe more people want to keep WB’s than there are people that would like them removed?
Because I have a feeling you would be wrong. People just like to show up and raid, and not worry about getting 10 separate WB’s that are on a ticking timer, that can be purged or wipe on death. And if you don’t have them you basically can’t even attempt to parse.
since we cant go off feelings and the previous time they tried this it was panned heavily on the forums and in game , i think we can safely say i have more “evidence” on my side.
its been tried before.
the best thing that could happen is making them non dispelable and only go away when you die to stop the most toxic part of the whole process while still being able to lose them if you wipe.
really though i like the extra steps of getting world buffs . it spices up the gameplay for me with something to do while in between raids.
Well clearly I won’t change your mind, people do enjoy different things.
But that being said, I do not like them because the raids are already easy without the buffs. Which means they basically only exist for parse runs.
Having to go through a whole rigmarole of everyone in the guild having warlock summon bot alts and doing a summon train around the world to get all the buffs is not my idea of fun.
There are also buffs like the Ashenvale Buff, or DMF that basically make it to where you can only really try to parse every other week.
Chronoboons made this all slightly less terrible, but still not a fan. I Would much rather do events, quests, or gather materials before raid, then turn them into a NPC in the main city to activate my full WB god mode, rather than go around the world trying to hyper min max the timers of the buffs
Out of curiosity, why particularly do you like world buffs?
They are mostly just a check box for the raid, and more punishment than benefit, with an arbitrary activation of “you need someone who hasn’t done the quest before”.
The current buff has minor gameplay benefit with the hit component of it, but outside of that it they typically aren’t gameplay altering.
They mostly just filter out parsing based on “has world buffs” vs “doesn’t have world buffs” which makes parsing a whole lot less skill dependent.
Classic world buffs are very unique. They serve for a strong advantage in classic WoW. But imo they should just remove them entirely from the game bc they promote a stressful and toxic gameplay and they ultimately are un-needed.
I’d prefer world buffs just only work out in the world and simply not work in any instanced content. They don’t have to be removed when you enter a raid or BG, they could just be disabled.
But I’ll take what we’re getting in SoD so far, which is that the old world buffs from Phase 1 won’t work past lvl 39. That’s a great step in the right direction imo.
