World Boss world quest, showed 389 trinket as a reward.
Killed it, got credit.
Got only gold.

Did the trinket show as a reward on the world quest marker? That would probably be a bug, if so, and I would report it in the bug report forums. Was it just an add-on showing the loot table on the quest? You aren’t guaranteed any loot from the world bosses, just gold and reputation. If you’re lucky, you’ll also receive one of the 389 items.
Same thing just happened to me. The world quest showed a trinket, but I got nothing. I changed to a different character to see what the name of the trinket was, but that one showed a gold reward.
